JAV Fan Survey Results

We asked and you all answered. Over 1000 responses from fans all around the world for our JAV Fan Survey. I’ve been curious about the JAV community of fans from outside of Japan. Where are you all from, what are your preferences, favorite actresses, those sorts of things. And now we have an answer to those questions. Thank you all for answering, thanks to the community managers for sharing the survey, and thanks to Oppaira for helping with organizing the data. Without further ado, let’s dive into the data.

Which is also reflected in our Ethnicity results with Asians making up 50% of responses. I expected White to be number 1 but they come in second at 26% with Hispanic/Latino fans coming third at 15% and Black in fourth with almost 4%. The Hispanic/Latino isn’t too surprising as I have learned of a few Spanish-speaking JAV communities and there’s quite a few fans in Mexico. I also didn’t think to include it as an option, but there were a few mixed-race answers.

While the majority pirate JAV, there is also a large portion paying for their adult goods as 32% answering that they get JAV from both illegal and legal sources. Not only that, an ardent 6% answer that they only get JAV from legal means. These are the ones that the industry loves. I will just say that you are a better person than me. And as always, I point to fans to support legal sources of JAV and porn in general with sites such as ZENRA.

I have to say I prefer Desktop viewing because of the higher fidelity and quality from monitors vs a phone screen, plus smoother playback. No buffering for me. However, as far as the Streaming vs Download divide goes, Streaming takes the cake with downloading coming in second with just a few opting for both or physical media viewing. Meanwhile, Tablet and VR remain the minority viewing platforms, which is a little surprising to hear with VR. VR porn has carved out its own market with JAV pushing it quite regularly alongside their normal content. However, among our respondents, it’s quite unpopular.

Coming in at a close second and third are Dramas and Girlfriend Experience; two Genres that to me really shows the difference between JAV and Western porn in my eyes. JAV with it's feature-length runtimes, focus towards telling a plot and acting, makes it a perfect platform for Dramatic leaning content. Meanwhile, the more innocent and gentle images that many actresses present, make them perfect for the light-hearted and casual Girlfriend Experience type content. One market leans toward the scene-based videos with slut focused talent while the other opts for more feature length movies with actresses that pull off the innocent image. 

Group Sex comes into fourth with POV at fifth, and Cheating/Affair hits sixth. Amateur was tenth, which is low but interesting to see that it wasn’t last. Hardcore JAV fans, which I assume were the majority of responders, probably like named actresses over anonymous talent so I thought it would’ve been last. Amateur JAV isn’t something we cover too much here at ZENRA and it’s a different ballgame.

The next three themes are all similar in that they are all service type roles. Maids, Nurses, and Masseuses come in next and all three are usually about servicing or caring for your client or patient. Roles that lend themselves to more relaxed and easy-going videos that can also play with the risky public sex play. At the bottom are Oil play, Sports Manager, and Hostesses. I can definitely see why Oil play is on the lower end as too much of it can be off-putting.

While creampies face the same blurred mess, there is another issue with it aside from mosaics. I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but the majority of creampies in JAV are faked. Even without the mosaics, you would just be looking at white cream. Maybe this is a case of fantasy overriding the reality. Following the Top three were Paizuri, Facials/Bukkake, and Squirting. In the write-ins, Cowgirl was pretty popular and I also have to mention that I forgot to include Lesbians as an option for any category and there were a few write-in entries for it. Apologies to the scissor loving crowd.

However, in the write-in section, which got quite a lot of responses (enough to rival third), there were several requests for an even bigger boobs option. Next time I will include a Humongous Tits option. For Team Ass once again big did not reign supreme with Round Asses taking first, Toned Asses taking second, and the Big Asses ending third. Proving that it’s not about the size but the shape that matters most. Meanwhile the write-ins had a lot of smoke for fake and enhanced tits while others noted preferring natural tits above all.

Now to answer the question “What got you into JAV?” and you all answered with Actress as the number 1 response with over 600 votes. Not surprising and not surprising to hear from this crowd. Most porn viewers most likely Google Hot Milf Porn and call it a day (and there’s nothing wrong with that). While more hardcore fans will look into the talent, find out more about them, and start following their videos.

A Video got the second most responses at 571 votes and while the option did not specify which specific video, several write-ins mentioned the Maria Ozawa Newscaster Bukkake video by name. Meanwhile, others wrote in that Japanese culture got them interested in JAV and a few put in the video game series Yakuza as the reason.

Looking at their busts and the medium-sized busts dominate the list with over 20. The very busty and small-chested close together at second and third at around 14. About 20 actresses are known for their nice butts and only 8 are known as mature/Milf actresses.

Now getting into the Top 10 and it’s an interesting mix of retired names, veteran actresses, and modern stars. We have the retired Yua Mikami, Hitomi, Anri Okita, and Ai Uehara. Hitomi has always been very popular with international fans and that love stays strong even now. We see some contemporary names like Ichika Matsumoto, Rei Kamiki, and Hikaru Nagi. The last of which is a bit of a surprise to me. She recently had a boob change that seemed very divisive to some but it like they are just a vocal minority with the majority loving them. 

For our long-time actresses, we have Julia, Ai Sayama, Suzu Honjo, and Nao Jinguji. It may be a Boobs Man’s World but fans chose Nao and her plump ass as their Favorite Actress above all. The only one to hit the triple digits of votes. Nao is great and deserves the love, and while I knew she was well liked, I was not expecting the number 1 spot for her. Comparing the whole list to domestic JAV fans and they aren’t too far off. The only difference is that this list seems to favor more well-endowed and curvier bodies.

For Ass preference someone answered "Cómo el de Waka Misono" and for Tit preference "Cómo las de Waka Misono" and again for Body preference "Cómo Waka Misono". I think someone is a fan of Waka Misono. In the favorite Genre write-in’s one fan proclaimed their eternal love for the male actor Taku. However, my favorite write-in answer was the person cosplaying as a famous fictional hero who in the sex section put in Batman and for region they put in “This City Needs Me”. Thank you Batman.
