JAV Hall of Fame - Inductees - Class of 2016

Hey guys, Oppaira here. As you may be aware, I started a project to track the JAV Hall of Fame and decided to backfill it a few years. In a nutshell, some friends and blog writers will be voting on who should be inducted into the Hall of Fame. I'll regularly be going through each year and we're starting the first year 10 years back in 2016. If you want to see more about the Hall of Fame in general you can read this overview post. If you would like to see who the front runners were for the first ballot, you can read the ballot preview post. Also, as a quick reminder, an actress must get at least 70% of the votes to make it in and must have had a release in 2006 (10 years prior to the year of the class). With that said, it's time to go unveil who is making it in.

With the most votes of any actress we have Tsubomi. If you've been a JAV fan in the last 20 years you've undoubtedly come across Tsubomi. A 16 year career is nothing to scoff at and she was someone who was at the peak of the industry for a very long time. She spent many years doing everything, from schoolgirl videos at S1 to mature deepthroat videos for Moodyz and Wanz Factory, and everything in between. While she was often regarded for her youthful appearance, she stuck around long enough to outgrow that moniker and embrace maturity. It is fitting that this queen of JAV was elected not only in the first ballot but also as the top inductee of the bunch. She was, after all, the number one name when DMM did the closest thing to a Hall of Fame over a decade ago. Congratulations to Tsubomi for being inducted into the hall of fame!

Our second inductee is Akiho Yoshizawa. Better known by her fans as Acky, she spent years and years living it up as one of the premier actresses in the industry, a shared exclusive for Maxing and S1. S1 doesn't do shared exclusives so when I tell you that she did it for over a decade, you know she's the real deal. That's also a credit to her as an actress, having a 16 year career just like Tsubomi. Acky was truly one of the last of the golden generation, a time when S1 was, well, not who they are today. Half of you probably wouldn't even believe me if I told you Acky had great deepthroat videos for S1, but truly S1 was a different studio during Acky's prime and at least a part in why she's so highly regarded. Like Tsubomi, Acky was very high up on the DMM list, third place in fact, and so it's fitting she's being inducted on the first ballot. Congratulations to Akiho Yoshizawa for being inducted into the hall of fame!

The third inductee we have is Maria Ozawa. She may not have the longevity of some of the actresses that are destined for the hall of fame, and sure enough next to Tsubomi and Acky she does not. I think the fact that she has just a 4.5 year career is indicative of how lasting of an impression she made on so many. There are so many people I know who credit Maria as their first, and back in her prime she was a superstar. Her news anchor bukkake film is legendary, so much so that a female coworker of mine once sent a meme about it at work. Yeah, it's that famous, which just goes to show how big a deal she was. Her short career was a mix of an S1 exclusive and freelance, which means she spent time at the top of the top and then went out doing all the genres she couldn't. She's now a C-lister celebrity in the Philippines trying to continue her glory days, which I don't think are anywhere near being a first ballot hall of fame inductee. Congratulations to Maria Ozawa for being inducted into the hall of fame!

If ever there was a name spoken about with legendary status it would be Sora Aoi. I think she's someone many of us don't remember all that well since she's been retired for well over a decade but it's impossible to ignore this legendary actress. It's hard to argue she wasn't the face of the industry in the early 2000s. She spent time at Alice Japan and Max-A before eventually settling at S1 where she spent the bulk of her near decade long career. Congratulations to Sora Aoi for being inducted into the hall of fame!

Yuma Asami was easily one of the front runners for the hall of fame. There is not a single person I know who has nothing but pleasant things to say about Yuma. She sadly had her career cut short due to cancer but even still she managed to spend several years at the top of the biggest studio in town. I will always remember Yuma as being quite bubbly as a performer, and the video where she practices her English with Caucasian males she has sex with is about as legendary of a video for western fans as you can find. It's also fitting to see Yuma make it in this ballot alongside her friend Acky, whom she spent many years working alongside. And just like Acky she too placed on the DMM list, in second place. Congratulations to Yuma Asami for being inducted into the hall of fame!

I promised that each time I would share the anonymized voting results, so here they are. As you can see it was thankfully clear cut for the top 5 so I didn't have to do anything special.

Kaho Kasumi was the unfortunate bubble in 6th place, one vote shy of making it in. Not to influence the vote but I think that she probably stands a good chance to make it in during the 2017 class. Knowing who is coming up, I think she can probably get a little more support.

There were nine actresses who got 1 vote each who I think will likely never make it in. There are only a couple of names that I recognize among them, and I think some of us just haven't really been watching JAV all that long. Yours truly has only really been a fan for a dozen or so years so there are plenty of names who retired long before I even really got into it.

Naho Ozawa is perhaps the most interesting actress not to get a single vote. She recently redebuted after being retired for over a decade. Maybe she knew I was going to do this and wanted to remind people why she deserves a spot. I doubt that will make a dent as I don't see her getting enough fans at Dahlia to go back and watch early 2000s videos though.
