JAV News: June Edition by Mangochin
So… I know a lot of people have been asking for weekly SNS, or monthly SNS updates… So I decided to keep a look out based on my writing schedule… and tried to find something with an inkling that would be interesting news. Alas, life is not that simple. Most SNS posts are just daily good mornings, shoots, or platforms for actresses to talk about sex and the AV industry.
Most however, focus on their goals so the fans can see them grow. Thus, it’s a lot of scavenging around in order to put together a “monthly update” because, there’s nothing to update about. Sure I can mention the in-passing retirements, but at that point it does become somewhat monotonous for the readers, and the writer. So to save myself from that burden, I’m letting everyone know, I will plan on doing quarterly updates, or updates when I see enough to collect on; Either way, it’ll most likely be a “quarterly” update.
So, because I’ve already wasted your time with you reading up to this point, I’ll waste some more time. I will be talking about the PAST updates to ZENRA’s website for things that you can use.
First up, we have the writer bio pages. If you want to see your favorite writer’s works, or want to get to know a little about them, feel free to click on the name (where it’s highlighted in orange). I can’t guarantee the bios will have what you WANT to know, but it will have what we decide to put out; which let’s be honest, is absolutely nothing, because this is the internet and we all want to hide our personal lives.
Another feature, is the reverse image search. Like many users, I too, have occasionally wondered from what work a picture is, or who an actress might be. R18 had updated their website to allow reverse image ID’s, and ZENRA has been allowed to add that in (you will be redirected from this site to R18), and it will come up with a list of actresses/works that have a % match.
Ever wondered if someone used to be in AV? Ever wanted to find out who your significant other looks like? Well, this is the feature for you. Of course, it only works when R18 lists the works… I think. So, if you try an actress who has completely delisted, you will have issues… however, in some cases, like Kanon Takigawa, there are some unlisted works that were never delisted.
Asides from that, there has been some optimizations behind the scenes to improve the site performance, but let’s be honest. You don’t care that it happened, nor are you happy that I wasted your time with reading this article. And yet… you’re still reading this. All jokes aside, I could talk about the number of retirements or come backs.

Hina Kano’s Retirement
Obviously, there’s been cases of big-name comebacks where people do reports on that, but it involves knowing the actress, their previous works. And while some may ask for why there’s a “mass exodus” of AV actresses retiring, this isn’t exactly true. AV has a lot of performers, so it’s natural to see a large amount of actresses come in, as actresses go out.
Contrary to popular belief, I (as probably most writers), cannot name and recall every work an actress did off the top of my head. Sure, it might be easier with our favorites, but reality is, there’s so many actresses to watch, that research is involved before writing pieces, and especially with “time sensitive” pieces, it means cutting corners. In most cases, it’ll involve refreshing our memories, and reminding ourselves of specific things that have happened during their career. So, that’s it for all the “news” this time!
Hope you enjoyed the time waster :)

P.S. More studios have departed from DMM/FANZA, like Hot Entertainment, but at the moment we’re waiting for a big fall-out or stagnant waters to discuss implications.
