It has been 5 years since this title commemorating the 15th anniversary of Moodyz was released so I figured why not revisit it and see how well it fares. MIMK-039 still stands as one of the most ambitious JAV films of all time featuring quite easily one of the most stacked casts as well. Seriously how can you not look at this lineup and expect great things. So many legends in one place. Actually, this is one of the only physical DVD copies of a JAV film that I own. The special edition came with an actual copy of the doujinshi it's based off of and a signed polaroid of a randomly selected actress from the film.

So does it live up to this immense hype or falter under the pressure? Let's dig in!

Plot

As I mentioned earlier the plot is based on a doujinshi titled "Ecstasy Show" from Crimson(If you want to learn more about Crimson I recommend checking out this great post from JTA). Now you all know by now I can't understand Japanese but I think I got the basic setup of the plot. Our cast here is playing aspiring tv show actresses who learn about a new project led by a conniving woman played by Kaho Kasumi. However, it turns out this was all a ruse to capture them against their will and subject them to a variety of sexual acts while filming it all. In addition, there seems to be a competition aspect behind the action as the actresses will frequently be pitted against each other. It's a pretty wild plot that makes for some very thrilling action with a surprising amount of variety(more on that later). My only personal gripe is that I wish there was less of a submissive tone to the action. It would have been a neat twist if one of the actresses turned the tables on Kaho for example and took control from her. But that's a minor nitpick as overall the premise is well-executed.

Sex

Boy, where do I begin? The film is a whopping 5 hours long making it the longest JAV film that I have ever seen personally. With this long runtime, you may expect the action to be bloated or repetitive. However, Moodyz does a brilliant job at creating a very solid amount of variety. I'd be here all day if I went over every single scene so I'll just give a rundown of the overall action. You can expect lots of one-on-one sex scenes along with masturbation play involving nipple clamps, dildos, and vibrators. Plus you get a massive group sex scene at the end involving some strap-on use which is always a treat. There's even a scene where Kurea and Shiori are giving a potion to make them grow a dick as they then get toyed with and jerked off. There's really not much to complain about here. Each actress is given a fair share of the spotlight so it's well balanced in that regard and the position variety is great too. The group sex scene at the end can at times be a bit chaotic and messy but overall it's still very enjoyable. MIMK-039 absolutely delivers some fantastic action with an excellent "bang for your buck" value.

Production Quality

Given this is such a landmark title for Moodyz you would expect some high-grade production values right? Well thankfully for the most part they deliver. Right off the bat, the wardrobe selection is very simple but oh so effective. While there is only one single outfit featured throughout the whole video, it's a damn good one that is super sexy. The pacing is pretty solid given the huge runtime. No scenes drag on for too long or overstay their welcome and as I mentioned each actress gets a fair share of screentime. The lighting is minimal and simple but it gets the job done. The camerawork at times can be a little messy, especially during the group scenes. Also, I will say I wish there was some variety in the settings. They only use one single location for the entire video which I sort of get why they did that but it still gets old after awhile. Especially when the room is already a bit dull. Definitely not enough to ruin the film in any meaningful way though. Also, the wigs used for Anri Okita and Yui Hatano don't really fit them too well. Overall MIMK-039 is still a wonderfully produced film that you'd come to expect from Moodyz.

Overall Satisfaction

Coming into this film there is a substantial amount of hype which is to be expected. Hell, I even pre-ordered this video. Who does that honestly?? So after the dust has settled was it worthy of celebrating Moodyz's 15th anniversary? I say yes. Moodyz makes excellent use of its star-studded cast and delivers a satisfying film. The action is nonstop as it's packed full of variety and fantastic sex scenes with some lovely use of strap-ons. It's a technically well-produced film on top of this with no real glaring flaws. And while personally, I wish the plot would have gone in a slightly different direction I can't deny it's well-executed and very entertaining. Now I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the performances here. I'm not gonna go over every single actress but overall they all do a respectable job. Kaho Kasumi plays a convincing villainess with great facial expressions and top-notch enthusiasm as always. And the rest of the cast does an excellent job at being submissive. Some are better than others but most are serviceable enough. MIMK-039 stands as a fantastic anniversary celebration for Moodyz and one that certainly lives up to the hype.
