I've been wanting to do a retrospective on MIRD-150 for quite some time now and since it's been five years since it's release so I figured now is the best time. Anyone and everyone that's a fan of JAV knows about this video. It's quite easily the most infamous video released within the last five years. It's garnered a reputation as one of the greatest JAV films ever released but why is that? What makes it so special and memorable from thousands of films released since then? I think that can be attribute to several different aspects and I'm going to break them all down and find out if this film is truly deserving of that title. First off let's get into how MIRD-150 came to be.

Backstory

MIRD-150 was the brainchild of both Anri Okita and Hitomi. They repeatedly hounded the same producer wanting to shoot a film together. After enough attempts the producer gave the greenlight and the film became a reality. Upon it's inception it was designed to be a film with international appeal beyond just Japan. Something that fans outside the country could really enjoy. There was really nothing else like it in the world of JAV. It features many influences from western porn that you would normally not expect out of a JAV release. Some things include spanking, spitting on the actor's cock and looking directly into the camera. Overall it really pushed the boundaries of JAV and resulted in a very unique video with nothing else like it on the market. Now lets get into specifics and see just how good this film is.

Sex

The main course of the film. By far one of the best elements of MIRD-150. This is a textbook example of how a collab release should be. The film spreads focus evenly across both Anri and Hitomi along with featuring a fantastic variety overall. First off one of the main positives is the use of real creampies. These are 100% genuine with no fake bulllshit. The film starts out with the first scene which is a POV sex scene. It's a fantasy cum true honestly as you take turns fucking them both. It's extremely satisfying and is possibly my favorite scene from the whole film. Afterwards there's another brilliant threesome scene with one of the best finishes I've ever seen.

It features the guy fucking Anri and as he starts to cum he pulls out. He shoots one shot of cum before Hitomi grabs his dick, shoves it back in and furiously jerks him off inside her. I guarantee you've never seen anything quite like it. That's followed up by a deeply passionate lesbian scene with lots of kissing, licking and groping. Definitely one of the best girl-on-girl scenes I've ever watched. Then it's a solid foursome scene along with a scene of the two shoving their tits and asses into the camera. To go along with the creampie theme there's a scene of them taking multiple loads on their pussies as they finger themselves and push the cum in. Lastly we get a fun and intense group sex scene. There's absolutely no filler or weak scenes whatsoever. From start to finish it's incredible and will leave you breathless.

Acting/Chemistry

No other film boasts a duo like Anri and Hitomi. Their chemistry is unrivaled except for maybe Hibiki and Yui. The fact that they're actual best friends in real life is made very apparent when you see close they are. This film features some of the best and most enthusiastic acting I've ever seen. There's never a dull moment from the pair as they're extremely engaging and energetic. Facial expressions are on point too. They also frequently will look right into the camera which is very refreshing as you never really see that in JAV. Individually they're fantastic but together they prove to be one of the best pairings ever seen in JAV.

These two are wholly entertaining and are always engaged with one another just as much as they are with the actors themselves. Some examples include the lesbian scene where Anri buries her face into Hitomi's tits as they make out and scissor each other. Or when one gets a creampie and the other goes in to eat them out. Every single scene is chock full of little moments like spanking, kissing and groping. Such as when Anri is getting fucked and Hitomi reaches over to grab and slap her tits around while making out with her. It's all very convincing and natural which is a huge deal as sometimes in collab films you can sense how artificial the chemistry is. Absolutely not the case here.

Production Values

From top to bottom Moodyz really delivers a near perfectly produced film. It all starts with the camerawork which captures some truly stunning shots and use of the POV is well done. Even in the final group sex scene, which tends to get a bit messy in other films, is shot excellently and wonderfully frames all the action without getting too chaotic. To compliment that the lighting is equally nice as none of it feels too bright or too dim. It's never a distraction which is always a key factor. The setting and room variety is solid as well. None of them are particularly unique but serve their purpose and never overshadow the action.

Pacing is always a key element of a film and here Moodyz really nails it. The only slight nitpick I have is that the close up scene of the two playing with themselves goes on for a bit too long but it's not a glaring issue. All the other scenes are paced extremely well and are just long enough to satisfy your appetite. Finally we have wardrobe and appearance which is another homerun. Admittedly the wardrobe is rather minimal as they spend most of the film nude but what outfits are here look spectacular. They all suit the pair wonderfully and perfectly match the ton of the film going for a more "slutty", western porn influenced look.

Summary

Taking everything into account it's time to answer the all important question raised at the start of this post. Is MIRD-150 overrated or deserving of being mentioned as one of the best films ever in JAV? In my opinion I think its absolutely earned the right to be named a GOAT video. Even if you don't like Anri Okita or Hitomi Tanaka you can't deny the absolute insane chemistry between the pair. Objectively it's some of the best you'll ever seen in a collab film. Just the same when it comes to the acting as both deliver outstanding performances bursting with energy and passion. The action maybe isn't for everyone although I find it hard to believe that some aren't interested in threesomes and authentic creampies.

Across the board the production values are superb and fine tuned As a whole this film strived to create something wholly unique with it's notable influence from western porn. It was created with the idea to appeal to a more international audience and I believe it succeeds. In 2015 when it released it dominated the sales charts at R18. As an American who enjoys his share of western porn I am obviously a huge fan but I can see how if you're not into it then this film may turn you off. In closing I say MIRD-150 is as close to a masterpiece as you can possibly get. It's my overall favorite video of all time.
