Yume Takeda being erased from JAV history

Published : June 17th, 2020 Written by WoodOfTheRisingSun

The aftermath of the 2016 JAV scandals is that a "delisting" mechanism was put in place so that five years after retirement, an ex-JAV performer can apply to have her videos removed from retail outlets, both physical and digital copies, both brick and mortar shops and online retailers.  The agencies, production companies, studios and retailers all agreed to this and mostly it had been functioning well.  Recent data showed that a vast majority of delisting applications were accepted and implemented.  So by now delisting of a few videos or the entire filmography of an ex-idol is no loner news, in general.

But today the Japanese fandom is erupting: an idol who's retirement was not even one year ago had her videos disappeared from DMM/Fanza.  That does not compute!

Yume Takeda 竹田ゆめ debuted on 2017-10-5 with SOD's premiere STAR label.  In exactly 2 years she made 28 videos with STAR, all but one of them solo titles.  According to one reliable source, it was during the filming of the one group sex video, the SODstar 11 SEX BUBBLE PARTY 2019 (STARS-120) when she developed a skin disease. It was so sudden that she left the set while filming was in progress, and since then she hasn't been back to work.  But a slightly conflicting report, from a no-more-or-no-less reliable source, said she has retired from JAV and started working in a regular (i.e. boring) job.  That left STARS-139, released in October 2019, as her swan song.

So no matter how you crunch it, there's no way she is using the 5-years delisting process.  But the reality is that none of her STAR label solo titles is listed on DMM any more.  Understandably this triggered some dark speculations.  Was she also affected by the same type of practises of the 2016 scandals?  According to industry insider, the chance of that is low.  Prior her retirement (let's call it for what it was), her agency is the strongest most respected in the industry, it would be a huge shock if it were also using unethical practise during recruitment.

Also Yume Takeda's entry into the JAV career was fairly well documented. She wanted to make enough money to buy her mother a house.  Which is a clear and feasible goal, so it should be a clean and over-the-table decision to make JAV.

So what other explanation is there?  We are at a loss here.  Maybe she did make enough money to make her goal, and now want to return to life as a normal anonymous person.  But her last few videos have not even on the shelves for a whole year, there should be quite some un-realized profit left in them.  Why did SOD and her agency agree to delisting?  Could it be a special agreement between all concerned parties?  Unfortunately no one outside of those few concerned parties has any sensible answer for now.

Can you write about the 2016 Jav scandal, and the aftermath for those of us who only have a vague idea what it was about?
Thanks.

I wrote a piece at Sankaku Complex that touched upon the 2016 issues.

Please do a search for ""Mosaic & JAV: Why Is It There, Why Does It Vary, & Will It Ever Get Thin Again?" and you'll see it.

The girls, the studios and the agencies are not so ignorant to the fact that there are illicit copies of their titles being distributed and streamed online. It's just a symbolic gesture of goodwill by the studios offered to the girl if she decided to exercise this right of her's. Even the famous Ai Uehara with over 5K titles to her name on Fanza had decided to invoke her right to be forgotten now with titles of her disappearing by the day.

It is hope that, given time, a retired girl will be forgotten and overshadowed by newer ones.

NO. Marina Shiina 椎名まりな did not delist her videos. Search by her Japanese name on DMM you can find all her videos back to her debut in 2013. So if some sites don't list her it's each site's issue. On DMM, and Amazon, her videos are still on the shelves.

However, she retired sometime between 2015 and 2016. So the 5-years rule will be available to her pretty soon. Doesn't mean she will delist them, but you will never know. And there will be no warning at all, the application process when it happens will be sudden and irrevocable. If you are a fan, pick up any physical copy or DRM-free digital copy over the next few months. Maybe next few weeks. If her retirement date was calculated to be late 2015, it could be any day now.

Is this why I can't find any Marina Shiina videos on legit sites?

I'm not entirely familiar with that actress, but probably "yes". It's frustrating when they pull titles like this because once something is on the net...
