If there's ever a JAV one can describe as being bacchanalian, it's any title in V&R's BATHHOUSE COMPANION series.  Totaling four titles shot back when studios were more often than not shooting movies with big casts and seeing big success (as this was before tubes and other deplorable sites, mind you), BATHHOUSE COMPANIONS is a picture-perfect example of the excess of the 2000's.  I hope we return to the themes of this era because even though solo women titles have their merits, there's something glorious about big group orgies.

BATHHOUSE COMPANIONS 2 does not require one to watch the first iteration before pressing play.  You want a plot?  Well, here's a plot:  five Japanese men book a night at a supernal hot springs resort that includes services by five beautiful and busty companions (things would have been awkward if less than that number showed up!).  Enter erotically-charged festivities commencing with naked sushi, continuing with a once-in-a-lifetime bathing harem experience, and concluding with a gargantuan 10-person orgy complete with *real* cumshots (no fake creampies here!), and you get BATHHOUSE COMPANIONS.

I don't mean to geek out, but this is another of director TAROU KAMBE's earlier titles.  He along with a few other directors left V&R to form ROCKET in 2008 and even his initial works were very high quality.  From lighting to sound to even the plot itself, this guy's a true blue pervert, but one with an artistic flair.  Out of all the JAV directors past and present, he'd be the one I'd most love to have a meal with.

Before beginning subtitling for this title, I perused the reviews at everyone's favorite 3-letter Japanese VOD site and they were kind of harsh.  The overall consensus is this one was slightly lower in manic energy and you know what?  I agree.  While most JAV fans care first and foremost about the actresses (for good reason), what the first BATHHOUSE COMPANIONS had and what this one lacked was a male 'leader'.  Before we had Boss KAI TAROU, the older loquacious gentlemen who really kept everything together.  Heck, we even had MASATO ICHIJOU helping him out (HIBIKI OTSUKI's fiancé in this title).  Boss TAROU was paired with the legendary RIO HAMASAKI whose pale skin and ginormous breasts have made her a near household name even years after her retirement.  BATHHOUSE COMPANIONS 2 has some strong male leads, but no one seems to take the torch and maintain it from beginning to end.

Also, while I'm really fond of KASUMI UEHARA, the de facto leader of the companions, some of the reviews were rather unkind.  OK, I will agree that she's not as textbook beautiful as RIO HAMASAKI, but her mature demeanor really struck a cord with me.  She gave off this "I'm the head teacher at a daycare, but I secretly work as an erotic bathhouse companion" vibe.  Also frankly, I'm older now and care less about minor physical flaws so long as one appears to be truly enjoying herself, I'm not going to nitpick someone's looks.  KASUMI played her part well along with her four companions:  RUNA SEZAKI, NANA SAEKI, HINA TACHIBANA, and HATSUNE NONOMURA.

Like some of the other SD era V&R titles we've been showing, BATHHOUSE COMPANIONS 2 is far from new.  We don't beat around the bush about showing #ClassicJAV.  This is a title from the Golden Age, but is shot with high quality gear of the time along with extra thin mosaic that hides nearly nothing.  And yes, while director TAROU KANBE in his more recent work with ROCKET errs on the side of fake creampies (I believe more for humorous effect than anything else), sticks with keeping all the climaxes as real as they come.  If you love busty Japanese women and fantastic group play, you can't go wrong with this one.
