I know, I'm talking about my tender, sensitive feelings as a fan, not about her that much. Also the market is becoming more and more fragmented, so DMM/Fanza rankings become less definite (I'll spare myself the rant on physical DVD's in 2021).

It feels like Yui Hatano might finish this year even lower in physical sales than she did last year (5th in 2020 vs 1st in 2019). A bit sad for me as she's my definite #1, but unsurprising really - she took some time off at the start of the year. As for her 4K titles: almost all are from Celeb no Tomo (which goes back to the point about smaller studios leading the way) and she shoots with them every month.

but this goes back to my point no 1: aren't the whales (who know they are whales) already hooked up and using VPNs for auctions / dropping cash on OF/fancentros whatever? This would leave with those with the potential to become whales. Replying here, as there seems to be a limit on the level of nesting comments? Personally, I think I might be a whale for a few actresses / certain products (photobooks or just plain chekis, fanclubs etc...) on top of the 'regular' movie purchases.

but is it? Is there a meaningful number of dedicated overseas fans? Do you know (and can you tell) roughly how big are R18 sales compared to that of the main FANZA? I know that they are the same company, I'm hoping to get a sense of scale of Japanese vs international 'legal' markets.
