It's hard to say whether the agency worsened her condition or tried to help her. For all we know, her previous agency dropped her for those reasons and Zeal took her on, but couldn't handle her situation.

From the perspective of the studio, it looks bad if they don't comply. An example of bad publicity for an industry that already receives its fair share of negative press. Ai Uehara, for example, hasn't been active for a few years. Yes, she has many titles, but it's not like their generating that much sales. As a studio, I'd be very annoyed with the request, but it probably won't hurt the bottom line. I can imagine, however, that if more actresses like her (retired, but still active on social media and filmed many JAV movies across a long career) made similar requests, you may see studios start to fight back.

Even though rumors say most JAV star social media accounts are handled by their agencies, I'm still sure at the very least the actresses check them from time to time. They may see comments and sometimes those comments can bite deep.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't if you're a JAV studio. If you fight it, you look bad and get bad publicity. If it's an actress who has left the limelight and just wants titles from years ago taken down, there's no real harm. They aren't making much from those movies to begin with. Really, even for very big names, a year at most is when sales for even major movies drop to nil.
