Anju Minase is alive and coming back to JAV
Anju Minase 皆瀬杏樹 had a somewhat glamorous start of a JAV career, as she was promoted as a "Local Station Announcer" under the nom d'porn Hikari Anzai 安西ひかり in October 2017. It was the peak of celebrity hype as Yua Mikami (from J-pop) and Shoko Takahashi (from gravure) were absolutely domainant at the top of JAV idol ranking. But being promoted as a celebrity is one thing, being recognized by the fandom (or better: recognized by the general public) as a legit celeb is another thing. So her stardom quickly faded and she became a planning idol using multiple names/personas. By 2019 Anju Minase (nominally 33 years old) mostly appear in planning titles with multiple co-stars and often as uncredited (fake) amateur. She had a few solo titles but they were not at all high profile.
Last September (2019) it was a rather difficult time for Minase and on the 13th she went on an all-night Tweet-strom (her account has since been deleted) saying how depressed she was. Exhausted herself by dawn, she declare “she's going to sleep for a lifetime". It's a short sentence fragment that can be interpreted any ways. It might just be an exaggerated way to declare she's super tired and going to sleep, or she is saying goodbye to the world of living. Well we know that when someone say something iffy like that, the chance of an actual suicide is very small, but the consequence is so serious that we must deal with each situation with extreme caution. Someone reported to the suicide prevention organization, and her own agent was also alerted and made effort to check on her state of mind. It was just after the tragedy of Aida Asuka and no one wish for a repeat. After that, there were no more news of her, which is about as good news as you could hope for.
From her Twitter account we could figure out some clues of her depression: she had financial difficulties. At this point a typical JAV title had a budget of about 600,000 yen (about USD 5600), for a mutli-girls title, each idol's take home pay is pretty small. With at best a handful of job offers per month it could be difficult to maintain any kind of lifestyle. And then typical JAV performers are not well educated and smart with their money. So overspending (diners, booze, cloths and accessories, cosmetics, even online gaming) is a common problem. Perhaps even more unfortunate was that Anju Minase's real identity was exposed (by DOXXING?) resulting in a bad family situation. It got so bad that she shared a picture showing hair loss and had sleep problems even with sleeping pills.
As in the rest of the universe, most of the time suicide threats are not serious. A lot of the times the idol just crave attention, as loneliness seems to be a modern day pandemic (even before COVID-19) and JAV idols with even tens of thousands of online followers are vulnerable. As the industry is (justisfiably) fearful of negative news it's not uncommon that some idols use self-harm or even suicide threats to get what they want. It falls on the talent agencies, in particular, individual agent/manager of each performer to stablize and sooth their mood swings and crises.
But for now we have no details except that we have heard no (bad) news about Anju Minase in the months since. And now we have positive news from a new talent agency, Anju Minase will be back with a new identity: as Miori Saito 斎藤ミオリ. While we still haven't found any (announced) video titles under this name. At least fans can masturbate to her existing videos without worries or guilts.
