FANZA Best Physical Sellers in 2022 So Far
(FANZA's Complete Picture Ranking Above)
FANZA’s physical sales twitter recently released their data from the top 200 selling JAV actresses. Mind you this is only for physical sales so DVDs and Blu-ray and FANZA does not ship internationally. There are ways around it but that’s a whole different discussion. Either way this will mainly reflect their domestic audience, so largely the Japanese fans. That said let’s look at who is hot in the JAV world.
The graphs were compiled and put together in English by a JAV fan group called AVcrush so credit to them. They translations are a bit wonky so you might see some miss spellings and errors. For example #5 should be Misono Mizuhara but as a whole it is still informative The data is all taken from FANZA themselves however. You can referenced their list here or the post here.

(Saika looking at the competition)
We start with the best of the best, the cream of the crop. At the head of the class is Saika Kawakita at number 1. 2022 really has been her year. I never imagined that her comeback would’ve been this popular. S1 has struck gold with her return. At 2nd place is the petite powerhouse Ichika Matsumoto, who gives up the AV crown. She continues to smash it while working in plenty of duo and group titles. Third is a big surprise in Mina Kitano. When I reviewed this debut I thought she had star potential but not in the top ten. Then we have Hana Shirato a smaller name debut from 2020 who has rocketed up to the top. Very cute looks and a devilish persona underneath it all. Rounding out the top 5 is Ria Yamate and her world class body. Breasts that will sell copies with her image alone. Rounding out the Top Ten is the likes of Himari Kinoshita and Natsu Tojo. Proof that small girls are liked just as much as their curvy counterparts. In fact the Top Ten edges more to the petite and slender side of things.
(The top selling video. Saika has several entries in the top ten)
Rising Stars
Next let’s look at the Rising Stars on the lists. Just outside the Top Ten is Sumire Kuramoto. I believe she’s the new Ichika. A small and tiny petite whose super charming and a very good performer. She’s been working in a lot of Ichika videos too, so that might have given her a boost. Fellow tiny petite is the super youthful Rara Kudo (too youthful for my tastes) at 17. Then we have Mahina Amane at 56 a good ranking for an up and comer, I think she’ll be big part of S1’s image moving forward. We also have the very interesting Mai Kagari. Another youthful type whose been quietly working and drawing eyes. We also have Premium’s plastic star Karen Yuzuriha whose exclusive contract is looking better and better for them. Finally we have Rino Yuki at 27 and if we are looking at quality; Rino has had one of the best years around. Quality and quantity, Rino made 2022 all hers.
(Ria gets the third bestselling title of the year)
Comeback Queens
Those up and comers aren’t the only ones who have had a great year so far so have these old vets. Girls like Sumire Mizukawa at 38 who came back to JAV with an updated look and new energy are being rewarded. Same with Luna Tsukino at 19 who came back with a new, tamer look and has become very popular. Or Iioka Kanako at 30 whose had some work done or Mayuki Itou at 60. All ladies getting a bit of a popularity bump later on in their career. Lastly we have Alice Otsu coming in at 29. She has been working around the more hardcore scene but only has recently seen mainstream success. Maybe it’s the new blonde hair, maybe it’s the bigger studios giving her a wider platform. Either way Alice has had a triumphant revival late in her career. For many of these vets it’s a combo of new looks and a great work ethic.
(Ruri Saijou only came back for one video but it charted to 16)
Old Stars
Let’s see how the old stars of JAV are doing in 2022. Yuu Shinoda and Yua Mikami are holding fast at 12 and 13. Pretty impressive from Yuu of all considering how lowkey her titles are getting. Then we have two legends in the industry with Julia at 23 and Yui Hatano at 24. With decades of years in between them, quite remarkable to see them still rank so high up. Julia in particular has had a mini resurgence in recent years. Mao Hamasaki, one of Yui’s posse, also stays high up at 34. While Yui’s BFF/Life partner Hibiki Otsuki has dropped down to 83. As was AIKA who comes in at 95. Oppaira also noted both of their waning popularity in his yearly sales post. Either way making it in the Top 100 after more than 10 years is commendable.
New Debuts
It’s newbie time and to check out some notable rookies to make it on the top spots. These sales reports always seem to favor the new flavor of the month. First is Ami Tokita at 49 a very late 2021 debut that is winning fans over with her super cute face and ample bosom. Next is the also cute and pretty Rena Miyashita at 89. She’s a thin newbie with a striking resemblance to Karen Kaede. Next we have Riho Shishido at 70, a rookie that is great right out the gate. I gave her a very favorable score in my debut review. She has definite star potential. Next we have social media star Unpai ranking in at 65. While I am lukewarm on her, her baked in Tiktok audience has catapulted her well in her first year. My dark horse newbie pick is Meisa Nishimoto who ranks at 118. Another social media mini celeb before JAV, her cute face and chipper attitude is star worthy.
(Rena has the top selling debut title of 2022 so far)
Departures
Every year we see some big names bow out and despite that they still rank high on the sales chart. We have Shoko Takahashi at 14 who says goodbye after a long and fruitful 6 years in JAV spending nearly all of it with Moodyz. Minami Hatsukawa who comes in at 85 also called it quits this year. That was after an exceptionally good final year from the Moodyz star. Next all the way at 153 we have Rena Aoi saying farewell but don’t fret. Rena is saying goodbye as an actress but heading on over to the director’s chair. It’s so cool to see an actress make the switch and it is always interesting to see former performers create their own videos from behind the camera. Lastly we have Karen Kaede and her shocking retirement. Coming out from left field this was a whiplash of an announcement. Karen was shaping up to be Idea Pocket’s premier actress and her exit came very abruptly. Easily the most surprising retirement of the year. She currently locks in at 33 despite the early exit.
(Shoko’s top title gets to #5)
Low on the List
Now let’s look at some names that didn’t chart as high as expected. Idea Pocket girls seem to fluctuate all over the map. Kana Momonogi their biggest and one of their longest stars only comes in at 110. Still good in the grand scale of things but not as good as she has done. Same with S1’s Miru at 155 and Faleno’s Nene Yoshitaka at 188. Miru may be because of her name switch. I can’t quite place why Aika Yumeno at 129 but I have been less than impressed by her videos recently. The year is still early for these stars in their prime.
(Hibiki)
Also SOD girls in general ranked low like Suzu Honjo at 103, Yuna Ogura at 144, or one of my favorites Iori Kogawa all the way down at 193. This is likely because of the Fanza/DMM split with SOD last year. A split that has quietly come together with SOD titles returning to Fanza. Finally we have Eimi Fukada who is seeing quite the steep decline all the way at 140. While she has been a top JAV star in recent years, this might because of changing priorities. Eimi has been working in less titles and has been focusing more on stuff outside of JAV with things like her popular YouTube channel. Perhaps thinking about life after porn.
(Eimi)
Summary
A pretty interesting look to the first half of the year. It’s still early I expect to see some old names climb their way back to the top 100. And even if they don’t being in the top 200 is still a good job in the wider sense. There’s loads of featured actresses working today with newcomers coming in every year and we aren’t even talking about the loads of amateur level actresses. Top 200 is not bad at all. Also the list mainly reflects the Japanese audience and their tastes. It also doesn’t show sales from Prestige or their platform MGStage. It will be very interesting to say the least when this year’s sales reports come out. I don’t envy fellow writer Oppaira in having to put it all together.
(Remu Suzumori and Prestige Not Listed)
Well those were the juiciest bits I saw in the chart. Feel free to discuss what you see in the comments below. Any interesting observations or if you are just plain happy seeing your favorite names rank high on the list.
Til next time, FC out
