Hitomi got her start in gravure, and like many busty actresses eventually made the plunge to porn. At the same time, I think fans have seen it coming. 10 years is a long time to stay in the industry, and with friends of hers like Anri Okita or Kaho Shibuya having retired, it felt like it was only a matter of time. You could really tell with the way the writing was on the wall in her last couple of years with Oppai that she had checked out. COVID definitely took a toll on all of us and for Hitomi that meant retiring, as she pointed out in a recent interview.

Hitomi's tits have always been the most iconic part of her identity if not her entire identity. For better or worse, tits that big are just so rare that they consume you (and to be fair they probably weigh as much as the rest of her). Performing

Early on in Hitomi's career she was pretty mediocre, or perhaps average at best. That's not surprising given that she was new and not doing a ton of videos. Anyone who has seen new actresses knows that's how it goes, and with Hitomi not doing the 100 video in a year upstart like we see some actresses do, of course it was going to take her a few years to blossom. Her early career just had her lucky that her boobs could carry her through it so she could go on to become a much better performer.

In the middle of her career Hitomi was one of the better performers around. She was great at a wide range of things, from being kind and sweet to being upbeat and dominant to being submissive and dominated. Toward the end of her career Hitomi's performing started to regress. It was such a shame seeing her decline from one of the best to someone that was only slightly above average. I'd say that she was still better than where she started but you could definitely tell the quality difference.

Genres

When it comes to genres Hitomi has kind of floated around on the average side of things. Earlier on in her career she was much more adventurous with stuff, from crazy bukkakes, to cocks that could match her boobs to tentacle monsters. Hitomi worked at Scoreland for several years doing photo shoots and topless videos. It was certainly not what fans of her JAV were accustomed to but it mirrored fairly well to image videos if you think about it. Hitomi excelled at Score, winning their model of the year award three years in a row. While over at score she would work with plenty of other names on the Score roster including Sha Rizel, Valory Irene, and more. Personally I've always disliked her Score work. Conclusion

It's times like these where I have to take a step back and reflect. I've seen my fair share of my favourite actresses retire, such as Kaho Shibuya (my second favourite all-time) or recently Touka Rinne. Retirements can hit hard, and none of them will hit as hard as Hitomi's did. I must admit that I had been mentally preparing for it but even still it's difficult to cope with. She's unquestionably been my favourite actress for as long as I can remember having a favourite and for her to not be here anymore, well, it's an empty feeling, like something is missing. The worst part is I know it will get worse over the next few months as her absence really starts sinking in. I've been following her career since the beginning, and for several years I've been watching her release every month. As I start seeing Oppai's releases come out and not seeing a Hitomi release, that won't be fun.

I will say that it's not entirely clear that Hitomi has a strong conviction to her retirement. While she's definitely had one hell of a career, COVID definitely played a factor in it and I feel like she hasn't even fully convinced herself that she should retire, which is pretty evident from how poor her retirement video was. Quite frankly it looked like it wasn't a retirement video and Hitomi didn't even seem phased by it. I wouldn't encourage her to come back, she should do what she wants, but it's hard not to think about it with so many actresses coming back. Chitose Saegusa and Asahi Mizuno both came back and have been doing fairly well for themselves, so it's definitely on people's mind that retirements have been a lot less permanent lately. Who knows what the future really has in store for her, and I think there's probably a good chance she's off to do bigger and better OnlyFans stuff. Lord knows it'll make her a fortune like it does for Anri, and she can do it alone in the privacy of her own home. Or, who knows, maybe Hitomi will take a page out of Kaho's book and become a Twitch star, it's working out fantastically for Kaho these days. If there is one silver lining though, it's that I don't think Hitomi is going to completely disappear, which is good news for her fans.

Of course, in the end I do wish her all the best. She's given us plenty of amazing years of content and all I can say is thanks for the memories. She may not be producing any JAV but I'm sure we'll all be watching her for many years to come, I know I will.
