Iori Kogawa Farewell

The end is here. Iori Kogawa is finally done with JAV. After a long and fruitful career of 10 years, she is leaving the silver screen. Spending all of those years loyally at SOD (Soft on Demand). Ten years and nearly 200 titles in her catalog; she has been one of the faces of SOD for years now. Iori will go down as one of the most well-known actresses in their history.

Iori’s appeal

Iori’s appeal is a classic one. Sporting that long dark hair, beautiful face, and pleasing persona; she is a quiet crowd pleaser. Known for her slender pear shaped body. She might not be very busty but will thrill you with her big ass and wide hips. Looks and body are one thing but Iori’s real strength was her performing. She was a fantastic actress. A submissive Iori with a collar, some light spanking, and later on Iori taking the reigns with a little bit of femdom play. A kinkier widow story that plays into Iori’s acting strengths more. The collar scene being my highlight and could have ran longer. These widow dramas are quite odd but can really work if it leans into the whole somber tone. In this video’s case I think it is a swing and a miss. I do appreciate to BDSM twist.

But in this case it’s a series that has been pretty well-known for Iori fans. One of her more popular titles and shows off that one on one experience that she is so good at. There’s a reason SOD used her in VR so much. Through the series we see the start of their relationship and in the finale they move on to marriage. Just not with each other. Of course that doesn’t stop the two from getting it on again. A series that plays heavily onto the whole step angle. This one also has Iori in a nice white wedding gown. Even years later Iori’s booty up close looks so nice. A solid little series that is all for Iori herself.

The two way mirror is taken out for the inhabitants to see the outside while they get into some naughtiness inside. An amateur video with Iori and more inexperienced men. A little bit of costume play with the title powered behind Iori’s personality. I am not a big fan of the Magic Mirror Bus or these amateur docu style videos. It’s a gimmick that really loses its power when you use it over and over. It needs a new wrinkle of something to make it newer slash refreshing. So this type of video was a big pass for me as a whole.

Another POV title, Iori’s specialty. This video is much more focused on her beauty and body compared to our last POV title. We get some light scenario and costume play. Iori the masseuse, the office lady, the maid, Iori in jeans, etc. So it’s got plenty of outfit fun to enjoy. Of all of them my favorite was Iori in jeans. Once again because of that ass. I am an easy person. A solid video but is probably not as good as her best POV stuff. She has a higher bar for them. My biggest issue with it was how low the lighting looked. The video looks really dim it was odd. Outside of that this is a decent POV video with an older Iori.

This next one is more of a Porn for Women type of title. Something that Iori has tried to highlight more of and she is credited with the story. A more vanilla title focusing more on the woman’s feelings and relationships. A plot and acting heavy title. There are some extended shots of the guy but not a full on Porn for Women video. While I don’t go for these types of videos usually it really won me over at the end. Thanks in part to the high production quality, Iori’s acting, the tender plot, and of course how nice her body looks in it. It’s a title I liked more and more as I watched it. A nicely done story and well-acted from out star. It doesn’t hurt that we get some choice shots of Iori’s fine mature ass. We get some real ass banging shots of that phat booty in this tender love story. A pretty good final drama to bow out on and makes me wonder how more Iori produced titles would have looked.

A light hearted title that is more about loving and tender sex. One last time she gives us the loving girlfriend experience.

The first part of Iori’s retirement farewell. Which starts with her parachuting out of a place for fun. Lots of interviews and talking. There’s a cameo by fellow industry legends Yui Hatano and Hibiki Otsuki. We see her recreate some older scenes from her first titles. Kind of a formless hodgepodge of a title. Not really a strong or cohesive theme. Not really sure what the central theme or idea was. As for the sex the first scene really delivers in the classic Iori way. Overall this was a much more laid back retirement style video.

As for the second of the retirement. They take the show on the road to visit her hometown. A travel style video tracing her journey back. We also get a nice interview with fellow SOD star Mana Sakura. Iori is her usual animated self during the sex scenes. Judging the retirement video as a whole it’s pretty lackluster as a piece of porn. It’s more about Iori and her journey with sex sprinkled throughout. Even then it’s not a very memorable retirement. A pretty disappointing way to close out her career. One of the weaker retirement titles I’ve seen.

Career Retrospective

And with that we have covered her entire last year (outside of some VR titles). As a whole it has been a stronger year compared to recent memory. Some solid but safe title choices. We didn’t see her break any new bans or get crazy with it too much. Iori started out her career strong and really peaked in the middle of it. She was much more adventurous and wild at the start and middle of her career. She really mellowed out the older she got and more conservative. Favoring more vanilla content and light hearted sex. The latter half of her career being the much weaker stretch compared to the beginning and middle. Iori should go down as a very good if safe actress. Terrific at acting and performing and remember for those lovely wide hips. A legend at SOD and a candidate for JAV Hall of Fame thanks to her long career.

Red Dragon Hostess

Well what does Iori have planned for her post AV life? Many actresses call it quits after finding a partner so I wouldn’t be too surprised if we hear about wedding bells in her future. However for the near future she is set to appear at Roppongi Red Dragon in Tokyo. An upscale hostess bar featuring JAV talent. She enters a revolving cast that has seen AIKA, Kaho Imai, Ichika Kamihata, Ruka Kanae, Elly Akira, Hibiki Otsuki, Ai Sayama, and more actresses big and small. These hostess jobs are more like occasional residences. Their appearances are sporadic and you never know how long they will be doing it for. So Iori fans shouldn’t expect her to be there forever. Granted that is if you are in Tokyo and with a big enough wallet. Maybe see Iori in real life yourself. Outside of hostesses who knows what else in in her cards for the future. For now she has earned a well deserved break.

Farewell from a Fan

And that closes us out. Iori Kogawa has been one of my favorite JAV actress ever. A pretty face with classical looks, those long dark locks and that fair skin. All with her bottom heavy figure. And to top it all off her supremely top shelf performing. She was my favorite through the middle of the 2010’s alongside Aki Sasaki. After all this time she sits high in my personal rankings. At the time I would say my second favorite JAV actress ever.  A terrific performer, an all in actress, a very pleasing persona, a certified sex veteran; Iori Kogawa will be missed.
