JAV News Recap for October 2021

Published : November 5th, 2021 Written by yfoo collector

Hey everyone yfooCollector here with another JAV news recap. October didn't have a lot of exciting news to report and we still don't have any information on the FANZA/SOD delisting. It seems that with winter rolling around the corner the AV industry didn't have a lot of happenings, however, there are still some interesting things to report such as social media troubles and an interesting newcomer.

Yua Mikami and Marina Shiraishi's social media troubles

On October 15th, both Yua Mikami and Marina Shiraishi's Twitter accounts were suspended due to a DMCA takedown. The suspension affected both actresses especially Marina who cherished her 400,000 follower account, she even stated that she might not return to Twitter if her account was not restored. Thankfully their accounts were restored after a few days however the stars were still quite unhappy with the incident, Yua calling it unjustified harassment and Marina getting mad at Twitter and trying to get lawyers involved.

Yua Mikami's thread about her twitter suspension

The culprit behind the false copyright was eventually found and the person posted selfies from both actresses' in their Facebook account and reported the actresses' accounts as impostors. This tactic is nothing new and has been around ever since DMCA takedowns were implemented in online platforms. What is interesting to talk about in this incident is the reaction of the people involved. Yua's reaction was of confusion as to how it happened as well as just asking the fans to report the fraudster. Marina's reaction however was more extreme, she threatened to leave Twitter if her account was not restored and even got lawyers to help her.

Marina Shiraishi's Instagram post about the incident

In my opinion, copyright trolls like this are inevitable especially if you gain any semblance of popularity on the internet. The problem is how potential support from Twitter the AV industry would receive in such cases. Unless there was a significant public outcry social media platforms would hardly notice these types of trolling. AV actresses operate under a gray area in social media platforms, where explicit content is tolerated but is not desired. Social media platforms are wary that potential advertisers and investors would not want to be adjacent to explicit content. As such with these fraud DMCA takedowns, Yua and Marina found it hard to get official Twitter support and had to ask fans to mass report the troll before the platform took action. With Shimiken's main YouTube channel getting banned as I was writing this article, I have a feeling there would be more of these social media troubles to come.

YouTuber Powerful Rumi debuts for MOODYZ as Asumi Mirai

Early this October MOODYZ revealed their newest actress named Asumi Mirai, who is a sexy YouTuber Powerful Rumi. She has a fairly popular channel with 140,000 subscribers (before she stopped showing the number publicly) and was doing risky erotic content on YouTube. Her YouTube content was pushing the limits of what was allowed on the platforms in terms of sexual content, and she has never shown her full face always wearing a face mask. With her debut, she'll not only bare her face but also her wonderful body as well. While it seems like a natural evolution to transition into JAV, as she was already doing sexy content, her debut still has some interesting angles to explore.

[MIDE-988] Asumi Mirai's debut work

The Powerful Rumi channel, which launched in May of last year, has already garnered a lot of subscribers in a short amount of time and it would be hard to believe that it is some sort of pre-debut promotion by MOODYZ. YouTube is a difficult platform to break through and amass a following, I don't think an AV studio would go to such efforts just to promote an actress. I believe that MOODYZ was the one to approach her to become an AV actress, and there is a lot of upside in hiring online content creators in the industry. For one they already have some experience in performing in front of a camera so shooting days might not be that far off from their experience. Content creators like Asumi herself would also have great experience in self-promotion as she wouldn't have reached that subscriber count without promoting herself. I believe that this type of hiring is a great fit for AV studios that are looking for actresses that would generate buzz when they enter the industry.

Asumi Mirai's typical risque YouTube uploads

As for Asumi Mirai's decision to become an AV actress, I believe YouTube cracking down on her channel might have been a factor in her decision. In the video above she explained how YouTube has limited her to only upload once a month possibly due to guidelines violations. Having limits on your channel significantly affects earning potential as watch time is the greatest metric for monetization in the platform. Although she has other revenue streams such as her fantasia account its not hard to imagine that with YouTube breathing down her neck, a job as an AV actress may seem more secure. Asumi's entry to JAV is similar to how some western porn stars start their careers, wherein they start as camgirls or sexy e-girls before joining the mainstream porn industry itself and it would be interesting to see how her career develops.

I'm somewhat happy that it affected Yua (the undisputed commercial #1) and Marina (well-established, connected and supported veteran) instead of some relatively unkown, minor actress who wouldn't have the muscle to fight back. Really scummy move, that could cause considerable damage to their careers. As for Marina, I hope that she will ride that troll's ass in court till kingdom come.

FYI, Shimiken's main channel was somehow unbanned a few hours after he posted that video.

I still see "This video is no longer available because the YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated" to links in his youtube channel videos.

His korean channel (https://youtube.com/channel/UCRb-Kl1gXJrXzKsI-I3egJw) was unaffected and he also made a new japanese one to replace his banned channel. (https://youtube.com/channel/UCewII8XpmcMXmKNxFvRLWkg)

oh, apologies then - I mistook his Korean account for the main one. Thank you for correcting me.
