JAV Sales Report - December 2022
Alright guys, we're finally at the final sales report of 2022. It's been another fun year full of all sorts of interesting stuff. Lots of interesting stuff has happened this year, including R18 closing down and the new AV law. While those might not be good things, at least we can close out 2022 and look forward to what 2023 has to offer. I mean, it can't be worse than my all-time favourite actress Hitomi retiring, right? I'm looking forward to seeing what debuts we get this year, and if you haven't checked out my debut stuff I encourage you to go check out my 2022 debut advent calendar, all will be explained in that post. With that said, let's
Top Actresses
Non Ohana has been killing it lately. I only recently checked her out but she's been having such an incredible time in the industry. Just look at that list of films, it's literally all from the exact same day in January. Wild to see how incredible she's been doing lately but I totally get it. It would absolutely not surprise me to see her crack a first place at some point if things keep going the way they are, especially if Non is willing to stretch her comfort zone just a bit. Even if she's not, those incredible boobs will continue to serve her well.
Saki honestly feels like a forgotten name at this point. I myself almost never watch her anymore, she just can't compete with all the younger talent that's just as good as her if not better. I think this highlights one of the things about veteran talent like her: you expect more. That's how any job goes, you learn new skills, you do better work, and you get promoted. Or perhaps it compares more to the sports industry, where you perform better and make more money. Saki just doesn't seem to be any better of a performer, and in an industry where looks matter a lot, Saki just finds herself eclipsed by others at her studio like Saika Kawakita, Yua Mikami, and Ria Yamate, all higher than her on the list. It's still nice to see Saki break the top 25 every once in a while, just as a reminder that she's still a solid name over at S1. I can't say this video looks interesting but the fact that it's such a bland video that a performance doesn't change much means Saki's mediocre skills won't factor in here.
Prestige doesn't always get a ton of love, maybe partially because they have their own website. Still, I'll jump at the chance to give a shoutout to my favourite actress on their main label (Absolutely Wonderful), Asuna Kawai. She's busty, she's pretty, and a schoolgirl in glasses is bound to be a good time. One thing that Prestige tends to do very well is variety videos, where they give you just enough plot but also do justice to the various themes as well. This one looks to have a fairly solid variety of things going on despite a consistent schoolgirl narrative, so maybe it will be more interesting than it might otherwise seem. Of course, you could just watch it for Asuna and her big boobs in glasses and a schoolgirl outfit, I certainly wouldn't blame you for it.
I had to double take on this just as you might have because Erina showing up here is surprising. She's currently not active and I can't really say what happened to cause her to jump so high. That's okay though, it gives me a chance to talk about her as an actress and give you a mini review, since I finally wound up watching her late last year. Definitely the star of the show is her ass, which in a lot of videos is something they point out to a great deal. She's obviously on the flatter side (though not quite as flat as some people encourage me to watch) and ultimately not for me physically. The one really notable thing was her moaning where she sounded like a dolphin. I mean seriously, I will never be able to get those dolphin moans out of my head. It certainly makes her unique but if anyone had reservations about her because of it, I wouldn't blame them.
Waka is definitely an actress we talk very little about and I suppose a lot of that is her being lower on the rankings typically. She's not some unknown actress, only up 54 spots, but even being 26th every month is probably enough to dodge all the sales reports. Waka's definitely benefiting this month from starring alongside a few more popular women. You've got others like Shiori Tsukada, Yuria Yoshine, Nene Tanaka, and Non Ohana (who I already spoke about), so it's not hard to argue with Waka doing well by association. She's certainly my kind of actress but when you see her G cups stacking up against I, J, and M, well she just isn't quite what the others are offering. Still, she's certainly an actress who could use a bit more love around these top spots and hopefully this isn't the last time we've seen her up here.
I'm pretty sure the last time we had a chat about Mayuki Itou was when she starred alongside Aika Yamagishi. I find Mayuki sometimes flies a little bit under the radar compared to what she brings to the table. She's got a hell of a body with those great boobs and this kind of variety VR looks pretty nice. Maybe part of her flying under the radar comes with being an exclusive for Kawaii instead of a bigger studio like Idea Pocket or S1, but I'm glad she's getting another moment in the spotlight this month.

Retirements are never a fun thing for fans. You always try to put on a smile and wish them the best with the rest of their life, but who are we kidding, things just aren't the same. Even if someone like Hitomi is still around, it's just not the same for me. Ever since I've really gotten into the industry, 引退 has become the worst word in the Japanese language. I'm lucky this time it's Makoto Toda, someone I wasn't into, but I share the pain her fans are going through. Six years is a pretty good run, spending most of it at SOD before trotting off to a final year at Faleno.
Alongside Makoto we've got another turncoat veteran in Moe Amatsuka, who left S1 to join Faleno. Moe is even more the veteran than Makoto having more than eight years of experience now. She often tended to be overshone by upstarts like Yume Nikaido or other veterans like Arina Hashimoto, but with Arina now at Moodyz I can see Moe getting a bit more time in the spotlight. This one has a nice theme of her being a slutty office lady who blows everyone in sight. When you give all sorts of interesting content like the screens above, all I can say is that it looks quite interesting and I can see why people were hyped for it.
This one is an interesting one as it's a sex lesson video. Three actresses go to class led by Genjin Moribayashi (a well known actor) and Hibiki Otsuki, where they learn all about the pleasures of sex, how to get the most of it, and then of course the live demos. It's an interesting concept and I've always wondered why it isn't explored more. Everyone's always focusing on the dramas rather than a live sex demo classroom contept. Sure, things like this have been done before, but it's still an interesting concept. Genjin and Hibiki seem like great teachers with all of their experience, though I'll admit Mao Hamasaki being one of the students is a little off considering just how much of a veteran and well established figure she is. Still, I know it's all an act so it's bound to be entertaining either way. You might also have seen that the ID was 001, and yes, this is actually a new manufacturer and their first video. It looks to be a series as well from what I can see, so who knows what we'll get from them as we go forward, but they're certainly off to a great start.
One thing I do think that the industry gets right is doing specials for actress anniversaries. A facial video like this is a fun way to celebrate a whole year, doing something a little off the cuff that's pretty enjoyable. It reminds me of when Aika Yamagishi did cum swallowing on her one year anniversary, or especially Yuria Yoshine doing cum swallowing on her second anniversary (which had a front cover similar to Mio's). If only we could get them to keep doing it, like when Aika Yamagishi's second anniversary had lesbian. At any rate, Mio seems to be doing well for herself and hopefully another year will bring some new spice to her.
Already January is starting off with a banger of a debut with Chinatsu Niiyama in our 3rd and 5th spots. 96cm H Cup boobs? That's what I'm talking about! E-Body unfortunately has a pretty bad track record with debuts if I'm being honest, so who knows what will happen with Chinatsu. I think probably the best thing would be for her to run for the hills and find a new studio, so maybe if she goes freelance for a little or signs with a better studio (like Faleno perhaps) she could make something of her career. I know I sound super pessimistic but who has debuted for E-Body recently with some longevity? Aina Namiki debuted in October and has already missed a December release, and her January release is with Rebecca (and thus not with E-Body). Or there's Mio Fujiko who left E-Body after five releases and has been freelancing. Or there's Natsuki Hoshino, a debut I checked out last year, who released in August, September, and October, and now appears to be retired. They just don't do debuts well and I hope the best for Chinatsu elsewhere.
This is a very interesting release having 7 hours of content, spanning 18 debuts over two DVDs, from the best that SOD has to offer. It's got a lot of their major debuts in recent years, like Yuna Ogura, Minamo, Suzu Honjo, Iori Kogawa, Mana Sakura, and more. It's certainly not surprising to see it here given how well debuts do domestically, especially with some major favourites among the casting. Definitely worth checking it out if you're into debuts.
I hope you've enjoyed another full year of sales reports. Can you believe we've been doing this for over two years now? Absolutely wild to think about. At any rate, be on the lookout for a yearly sales report at some point and plenty of great 2023 content. Until next time!
