JAV Sales Report - January 2025

Welcome to the first sales report of 2025. Let's take a look at who is leading the pack at the beginning of the new year.

Nao is up a lot of points to one of our top spots this month. I think I might know why, which is her mega Madonna film next month that people are prepping for. Ignoring that for a second though, Nao has a lot of great content between M&M (Moodyz and Madonna). It’s a fantastic pair to be shared exclusive for as the two studios have enough differences between them to be really interesting. You can see that just in this pair of releases where you have not only a lighter theme at Moodyz but also them portraying Nao being a younger person. I expect to see Nao continue to show success with what’s coming in the pipeline for her and I’ll have to remember to check back in.

An is one of the more promising 2025 debuts so far and it’s not hard to see why. Getting a relatively early Fair & Way release is a way to see that but also just look at the photos. Sure, maybe some things are touched up a bit but I think you’d be hard pressed to say anything but nice things. I just hope she is actually as good as she looks, and perhaps more importantly, sticks around for a bit of time.

Miu is not an actress we see all the time and kind of makes me wonder why a little. Being a shared exclusive like she is (between Attackers and Premium) gives you twice the chance to get the stuff you want. Maybe there’s a lot of overlap between the two, I could totally see it compared to Nao at M&M. I suppose I have no hesitation in saying Nao is miles better than Miu but either way I guess I just feel like shared exclusives should see stronger success like this.

DJ Mary is up quite a few spots this month proving she is a force to be reckoned with in her new shared exclusive situation. You get a lot of great content from both Das and Madonna that suit her quite well. Das in particular has this “multiverse” type series they have going for her where they explore “what if” scenarios for Mary. I expect to see Mary do better and better as these studios warm up to her and give her more interesting things, which we will see in the coming months as they go deeper into the what ifs and the group content with Madonna is released.

Karen has similarly excelled in her shared exclusive role at Oppai and Premium. I know I’ve lamented in the past at how lazy Oppai can be as a studio, but they do a great job with Karen. It’s almost as if they recognize Karen’s tits aren’t omega huge so they actually need more interesting plots. That is a stark comparison to, say Hitomi, who continually just had “big tits” as an entire plot. Doctor, neet, and bunnygirl cosplay is a nice set of variety in her most recent releases, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg with her.

Last time around Mayuki just barely crept in to the top 25 but this month she’s holding firm in a better spot. That in part is thanks to a duo alongside Aika Yamagishi. This isn’t the first time the pair has worked together so I think fans had some expectations coming into it. That being said, now that both of them have taken on the Beauty Venus series, I think there’s a certain expectation of them being quite nice as a pair.

Yu Tano stocks continue to do well and it’s no surprise why. Among all the recent debuts Yu seems the one that is most bubbly and outgoing. And as I see, she has a cute face where this is a strong point. I've always looked at image videos and thought that it was all looks and the actress wouldn't bring out a personality but that image is making me think otherwise. That bright smile on her cute face, the way she's bent over to let her boobs hang low while trying to modestly cover them up, the way she's artistically covered with sand. Yu seems like someone with such a bright future ahead of her and I for one am excited to let her leave everyone else at S1 in the dust (or sand!).

Studio crossovers are pretty rare and having two major actresses for two major studios team up is even more rare, which explains why this video is so highly rated. People tease me a lot for not being huge fans of these two, and even if I’m not that huge fan I can at least admit that this video was destined to do well. It does seem to lack a certain spice that would make it really pop but I guess the proof is in the pudding that it doesn’t even matter.

Kanna Seto continues to lead the pack of 2025 debuts. It’s still very early in the year so we’ll see how she fares when other busty women come along, especially some further contention from S1. We tend to see multiple a year from just S1 alone these days and I want to see how some of these fans react when she gets some competition.

Nozomi did well in January and continues to be doing quite well for herself. She’s seen a lot of success from various hentai adaptations and her appearance in the Moodyz bus tour stuff. I’m admittedly not the biggest fan but it goes without saying that a banging career is a big deal. Considering the kind of content she continues to be pumping out it’s no surprise she’s doing well. Even older videos are doing well, like this one about her showing how to sex. I could totally see Nozomi doing well in that role so it’s only slightly surprising it’s this older one doing well. I do expect her to continue to do well, especially knowing some of the upcoming releases she has scheduled.

Iyo Shinohara (篠原いよ) continues to have strong showings and it’s not surprising at all. She’s cute for a MILF, she has nice big boobs that drip milk, and she has a great social media game. It feels like LiStar has cracked the code with her because she seriously blows like 98% of social media accounts out of the water. Even if her videos are still on the tamer side I find myself really keen on watching her because I expect great things as time continues. I’ve seen this video and it’s nothing special but there’s a certain charm to Iyo that I keep wanting to go back to her that I suspect will last a while yet.

January was a great month for Moka Haruhi (春陽モカ) as she was able to star in Oppai’s GES series (which is better described as my favourite series). I’m still maybe a bit annoyed that Oppai is once again getting someone her bust size instead of say Noa Haruna that they’ve worked with. That being said, I think actresses who aren’t super busty that do this series is a good indicator that they are very popular. Oppai has shown a willingness to go a bit less busty to get some more popular actresses, and I can’t exactly blame them for it. If you’re not yet a fan of Moka I think now is the time to climb aboard.

What an interesting month it is looking at Bookmate results. This page alone shows several Idea Pocket actresses doing well. Yume Nishimiya (西宮ゆめ) in 27th, Mitsuri Nagahama (長浜みつり) in in 33rd, Kana Momonogi (桃乃木かな) in 37th, and Momo Sakura (桜空もも) in 45th. It’s starting to feel like Idea Pocket is back in business with some of the actresses they have. There’s some great veterans and promising debuts and I think we’re eating pretty good at IP right about now.

“She’s still got it” is how I would describe Yu Kawakami (川上ゆう), who is in quite a high spot these days. You don’t tend to see these super long career MILFs do quite as well as Yu is, especially when they’re random freelancing. I’ve sort of doubted the career Yu has had and whether she’s an all-time great, but results like this make me eat my words a little bit.

Sakura Miura (水卜さくら) is one of those actresses that continues to chug on. I say that because most people I know have gotten past Sakura. Like sure she has nice boobs but her performing is so devoid of life that a lot of people I know don’t watch her anymore. That being said, she’s clearly still doing well and people clearly still enjoy her. Every once in a while she enters the conversation and reminds us she’s still pumping out quality stuff. I somewhat wonder if her Rebecca release is a better option just because she doesn’t need to perform, and perhaps that’s what has her on our list this month.

Mei Itsukaichi (五日市芽依) is continuing to be very popular, getting opportunities left, right, and center. This Wanz Factory video in particular is quite nice, one I’ve seen other actresses do. Sure, it’s fake creampies, but what isn’t these days? It’s got this humorous “ah the condom broke” theme where eventually she just says screw it, or even better, I want it raw. Either way, Mei continues to be a top tier freelancer and shows no signs of cooling down.

Himari was my favourite 2024 debut and I think the industry is still enjoying her. She’s got the boobs and the performance, other things can be worked on. Right now though I think personally I’m in a camp of not wanting to watch the mediocre stuff. It’s extremely rare for an actress to be so good that I will just watch everything, good or bad. Maybe there’s some room for me to start doing that and maybe Himari is the one, but then I look at the January release and think again. It just looks very bland and I’d rather not be consistently disappointed by Himari because I picked the wrong things.

Noa Haruna (羽月乃蒼) continues to be a bit of an enigma to me. The industry seems very divided on whether she’s supposed to be amazing or supposed to be stale leftovers. Some studios are happy to let her run with it and bask in the glory that are her perfect boobs. I’ve seen studios like Das and Madonna enjoy her meanwhile studios like SOD or Oppai not really showing her the love. I do think that Noa is turning that page positively, she seems to have convinced people she is the real deal. This rank on Bookmate is evidence of exactly that, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she continues to rise over future months. It also had me thinking earlier about cases where actresses had these kind of auspicious starts. There are a surprising number of great actresses who had to get surgery before blooming in the industry, like Maria Nagai, Alice Otsu, or even one of the greatest ever Ai Uehara. I know some fans will be mad at me for saying Noa could use a bit of work, but maybe it's worth it to see what peaks those peaks can reach.
