A new player is in town by the name of Materiall. This rookie studio bursts into the spotlight with 4 titles off the bat. They describes themselves as AV makers that focus on exposing the true natures of actresses. Their mission statement on Twitter is as follows (rough translation):

“What is really erotic is a woman who always shows her true nature.
Laughing, crying, and climaxing, Eros Materiall with a real face.”

They seem to want to focus on more authentic looks into actresses. Letting them be themselves or provoking some deeper emotion within. From them we get a deeply emotional title, a fan visit, a pick up title, and a group sex BBQ party. Not the flashiest settings or premises. Materiall have made some choice picks for their first titles. Starting off with Ichika Matsumoto, Luna Tsukino, Riho Fujimori, and Kaho Imai. All great actresses and/or rising in popularity, they know their stuff. With Ichika in particular being a great choice for their intended style. And with that let’s check out their titles.

Their first title and easily the most interesting even if it might not be for everyone. Luna Tsukino starts us off in this super emotional title. We are talking about teary emotional sex with some crying. Certainly an interesting choice to be one of their first titles. It also features lesbian sex and a real deal threesome. A deeply emotional scene that really brings out the tears with some very passionate sex. It may not be for you but I thought it was the best of bunch from Materiall. At the very least the most interesting and most faithful to their mission statement of showing a deeper/realer side of actresses.

She’s a bit awkward here and needs something or somebody to play off of. However, that outfit she wears in the first scene was fantastic and needs to be done again. 10/10 outfit for Kaho, 6/10 title. Good eye candy, so-so smut.

Overall I was a little disappointed in Materiall. They weren’t going to come in and break paradigms and do something totally different. Maybe my expectations were too high but I at least expected some new ideas or styles from them. Outside of Luna’s video these were pretty normal types of title you can find anywhere else in bunches. With low production values and modest sets, they aren’t a big player out of the gate. So don’t expect sets, costumes, and budgets on the level of the big players. I do like their goal as a studio of diving deeper into actresses’ unseen side or letting them be looser and freer.

As a whole I would give them a 7 out of 10. Not great and not bad at all, they have room to grow. A solid studio of modest means but with an interesting premise and goal behind them. I like the concept behind them. Some girls are great at being themselves and have made a whole career out of it. Plus with their smaller scale that style perfectly fits into their budget. However, they still need to figure out what makes them unique from other studios because they also make these types of videos from time to time. Separating yourself from the rest is a difficult thing to do but I’m hoping the best for the new AV maker. And why not, more studios mean more smut for the rest of us.
