Oppaira's 2022 Debut Roundup - 1 Year Later

Hey guys, welcome to the 2022 debut roundup post, one year later. Today we're going to be taking a deeper look at how all our debuts from last year have been performing a year after the fact. I'm particularly excited about it this time around because I think I've finally figured out the final form of how I review debuts each year. People might not realize but my posts evolve over time as I get new ideas or feedback from readers/friends. Back in 2020 I had so little in the writeups that I would group seven actresses together, in 2021 I started individual posts spread out over a couple of months, and last year I did a post every day in December. This year will be the first year I do the same as the previous year so I'm excited to see if it has made any meaningful change, especially since it's very similar to what I did in 2021. With that said, let's jump into it and see how all these wonderful ladies are doing.

First off let's see where all of the debuts fall. This one is hopefully not as bad as the one from 2021 debuts since there's far fewer things to look at.

I've now seen 38 actresses which is kind of crazy compared to the 41 I had seen from 2021. The extra couple I watched in 2022 when I did 31 actresses is shining through a bit here as it would be closer to a week's worth of actresses I haven't seen. Having seen exactly 38 means that we have written reviews of everyone up on the blog, which is fantastic. People might not know but I don't post all the reviews I do on the blog so for me, it's nice that I have everything all here for people to look at.

Next up there are still a dozen actresses I'm watching which is almost 40% of the debuts. That's very high compared to what we saw from 2021 debuts however we're also only in the second year. Things will undoubtedly change next year as I start dropping some of them. I'm always a lot more willing to watch a second video, especially when I watch it mere days before this post just to see if they've improved or not and if they're still worth watching. I do expect that to probably drop again by next year.

We've got a few retired actresses which is sitting at just 7/38 right now. I expect this number to increase, especially as we have a couple that are likely to be retired but still have new content coming out.

Looking at this we can see how I've been enjoying some of the debuts. It's very clear who the top debuts are but what's interesting is the nuance between them. I put Himeka at second last year but I feel like she's slightly edging Rei and Momona out right now for me personally, and the chart seems to agree. That being said, the difference is fairly close between them, we're talking like a month between each of them, so it's not really significant enough to matter. I'd care much more about it when we get to 10+ videos and can see something more interesting. We saw the top of 2021 debuts being 10-11 videos so I think these three being at five videos each right now means the're actually slightly underperforming based on where Konan and Rino were during the one year later roundup. I wouldn't really sweat it though, I expect them to do well in 2024.

Yunon Hoshimiya is one retirement that stands out. When I watched her last time it felt like it was hard to figure out what was going on with her career, but now I can confidently say she's retired without any releases in a year. She basically had already released everything she was going to by the time I had posted her last time which was not really what I had expected back at that time. That highlights both the good and bad of how I choose to watch debuts. On the one hand, it explains exactly why I try to wait: because I want to avoid watching actresses that retire early that I'll never watch again. On the other hand, it points out how it's all just a gamble, as Yunon had released every month from her debut until the end of the year. When I first watched her back in July she was working with Wanz Factory after having worked for Oppai in June and alongside Miu Arioka in May. These are the sort of indicators that I think are supposed to give you confidence which really makes me a bit frustrated. Maybe being a freelancer and still doing only one video a month is a bad sign, and perhaps one day I'll go and run those numbers to see if it really is an indicator.

Non Shirohana is an actress that still has content coming out but we have strong reason to believe she is retired now. It's sad because she stands out as one of the better debuts. I say it a lot but there's so many actresses debuting each year that there's not a lot of point getting invested in an actress that is retired. When I can count on myself to watch around 40 debuts per year there's always going to be someone else I'd rather care about. Even if we go back to 2020 we still have names like Hikaru Nagi and Hana Himesaki we can see are still very much active three years later that are better options than Non Shirohana. I'd almost certainly be watching more of Non if she was still active though as I think she seems better than a Jun Suehiro who is one of the top five.

Speaking of retirements, one thing that's interesting to look at is how many actresses retire each year and how many actresses I start watching each year. I've got a dozen actresses from 2022 I'm still watching with so few retirements from last year. When I filter it down to actresses I would probably still be actively watching, that list is just Alice Kisaki, Kaho Imai, Minami Aizawa, and Yua Mikami. That highlights something I think people don't think about, which is that there are fewer retirements each year than there are new actresses to watch. Even if the average career is only a couple of years, those that stick around for many years eventually leads to you having way too many favourites. Over a quarter of my all-time top 100 actresses are still active and have a 10+ year career, and honestly these days it's becoming harder and harder to keep up with everyone.

Reina Kuroki was someone I had more faith in last year that just hasn't turned out all that well. She debuted at Fitch's NIKUYOKU label and I kind of overestimated how bad that label would be. Even the most interesting video they produced was pretty bad. We see now that she's over at Madonna but I don't know how long that will last, and in fact I have good reason to believe she's not even with Madonna anymore (and we're just waiting out those releases). Either way we'll find out early next year if she makes it past the first 3-4 releases there. I still have the same feelings about Reina that she has a nice rack, nice ass, and nothing else going for her. As it turns out, these days that isn't necessarily enough to do well in my books as odd as that sounds. I have seen her again but for someone who I probably would have placed 4th out of the original 31 I watched she's definitely starting to slip. Like I pointed out just above, I think with so many actresses I pay attention to the bar is rising for becoming a favourite of mine.

Over at Madonna we have quite a few names to talk about. Before I get into those that I'm actually pointing out, there were actually quite a few actresses that debuted at Madonna I watched from 2022, which includes Minato Maiha, Hinata Kimitsuka, Jun Suehiro, and Haruka Rukawa not depicted above. The three above are the top three from Madonna (that debuted there and are still there) and they are Aya Ueha, Aoi Ichino, and Kanna Fuji respectively. Aya Ueha might have the biggest tits of the bunch but Kanna Fuji has been my favourite among them. She's been doing a great job lately and her insanely flexible body makes for some interesting content. I've seen all of them more than once though so it's nice to see some Madonna debuts doing well when most of the ones I checked out in 2021 are retired now (and in fact, none of them are still with Madonna).

On another related note, has anyone else paid attention to how studios do the same videos for their rosters? These videos were their 4th, 8th, and 10th release respectively. That's not the only series they all have in common, there's at least six by my count. Considering that Kanna Fuji debuted only in July last year that's like a third of the videos overlapping in the same content. Part of me hates how similar everything is but it also acts as a very good way to be able to compare them if you watch entries from the same series.

Riho Shishido is someone I feel like I haven't been paying enough attention to, especially after what I've seen she's capable of. She had an October release that shocked me with how much she was capable of. You don't really expect major studio exclusive actresses to be capable of squirting and deepthroating but Riho proved me wrong in spades. I'm quite excited to see what she has in store for us in the future especially with her creampie lifting happening earlier this month.

Jun Suehiro kind of came out of nowhere after I watched her, slowly becoming one of the hottest actresses around. I know I had a very lukewarm first impression of her but Pan was a much bigger fan than myself. Part of me is starting to think Pan is right given where Jun's career has gone. Waiting later in the year to watch an actress is a good way to see where their career is headed but so often we see actresses only really take off a year later. Hana Himesaki and Kaho Imai are a couple of big names that comes to mind when I think of blossoming careers as they both started off in SOD's youth label and went on to be among the most popular in the industry; it's the one downside to doing my reviews when I do them. Jun's career has been incredible lately getting amazing opportunities like VR starring great actresses (depicted above), lesbian videos, or all sorts of other things. I'm hoping that she'll get even more adventurous as her career goes on, but I feel like now is the best time to be a Jun fan.

Hina Nitori is someone I had pretty underwhelming opinions about because of all the amazing busty actresses at S1. Let's be real, if you've been following how 2023 has been going for them you know exactly what I'm talking about. Even if you haven't, looking back at 2022 you have to contend with actresses like Mirei Shinonome, Unpai, Kaede Hinata, and Yuuri Adachi. To me, it's hard to stand out when you're in a studio that relies heavily on how attractive you are and then produces so much comparable talent each year.

If the cover hasn't made you realize it yet, Hina is now an exclusive for Oppai. If you don't know how to tell, look for the 専属 text in the red bubbles on the spine, that word (pronounced senzoku) means exclusive. Anyway, moving over to Oppai is a good thing for her in my mind as it gives her more opportunities to stand out. Oppai might give her more interesting content than S1 would and perhaps a Girlfriend's Elder Sister series entry is in the cards for 2024 for Hina. On the flip side though, Oppai has been struggling lately and Hina is not the kind of actress they need. I mean sure, 94H is a great size for a pair of tits, don't get me wrong, but it's a far cry from the 101J JULIA or 113O Hitomi had when Oppai was at the top of their game. Sure, Hina might compare closer to big names that aren't quite as busty that have been on their roster in years past, Meguri and Ai Sayama both immediately come to mind. That being said, Hina just isn't them either, with a much less illustrious career than either of them have had. I suppose it's still a bit too early to say Hina won't amount to anything but at this point I don't think her transfer to Oppai is the thing that will elevate her career.

On a somewhat related note, I also take a lot of solace in knowing that different bloggers here at zenra have different approaches to watching debuts. You've got writers who will post about debuts very early in the year, like what yfoo does or what FC does, you've got others that like to do a huge dump at the end of the year as I do, and you've got what Pan does where he watches five videos before forming an opinion and is much more selective on who he watches. Knowing that we also have different preferences in actresses means we actually cover quite a lot of debuts each year, so I don't really need to feel bad about having such strong tendencies toward actresses who have huge tits or are more mature than the average person might prefer.

Himeka has easily been one of my favourite debuts from the year. I watch a lot of big titty milfs but there aren't a ton of actresses with tits this size on the cuter side. I think especially at IP, they have a good studio but rarely do they have an actress like Himeka (read: huge tits) on their roster, and haven't since Mia Masuzaka left. She definitely comes off on more of the adorable side and fits right at home alongside someone like Kana Momonogi. She might not have the same sort of social media presence that makes me really enjoy Kana but I've been enjoying her a lot, especially as I've noticed she's not a half bad performer plus her ass is much nicer than I think people (myself included) gave it credit for. I'm definitely looking forward to more Himeka.

Speaking of busty actresses at studios that don't traditionally have them we've got Momona over at SOD, another one of my favourites from last year. Just like IP I find Momona sticks out a lot more at SOD because she's the only one on their roster with tits quite that big. She strikes me as this more youthful, playful type actress, very reminiscent of early Aika Yumeno. She may not be as pretty or as bubbly as Aika but her tits make up for some of that. I think that's something you notice as you watch a ton of actresses, that you can find actresses that are similar to another but change a dimension or two to give you something a bit different. I like Aika Yumeno as much as the next guy but sometimes I want bubbly with bigger tits, even if I'm sacrificing a bit in some areas for it. Of course, Momona will continue to get better as time goes on and her working with Rei Kamiki already brought a lot of fans great joy. There has been a good amount of good content from Momona so far and I have a fair bit of faith in SOD giving her some solid opportunities in 2024.

Rei has always struck me as the older sister to Momona despite actually being younger than her (in her porn age at least, it wouldn't surprise me if she was actually older than Momona). She simply has this more sophisticated air to her and they definitely cast her that way too. You get more things like teacher, office lady, or married woman themes out of her that Momona can't really play. I think it actually compliments Momona nicely because you get the quality of SOD out of both of them and you can pick which side of the coin you want to watch when you do check them out. Of course, Rei is stunning and easily the prettiest of the trio of my favourite debuts. She might not have the boobs either of them have but her face makes up for it as does her ass and body being the nicest as well. I feel like Rei is probably the one I have the least faith in only because I don't trust SOD to give her dramas over generic videos that can sell a video because of how pretty she is. It's a shame but hopefully one that SOD will stop doing so we can get better content.

To start off, one of the interesting things about 2022 is how accurate I was with the ratings I gave. All three S rank debuts have unquestionably been my favourites of the year, by a healthy margin too. I'd like to think I've gotten good at it over the years but it's not as easy as it sounds. I think the fact that my favourites were all at major studios makes a huge difference as it allowed me to have a level of confidence in them that's hard to otherwise come by. One of the ways I rate debuts is by the quality of their career and when I'm looking at someone in one of the top 5 studios getting all the right opportunities, hard to think anything other than a big success, especially when it's IP or SOD with their smaller rosters.

One thing I also find interesting is how few of the remaining actresses I actually care about. There are some actresses like Iori Tsukimi, Airi Honoka, Hinano Kuno, or even Rena Miyashita, but none of them are the amazing debuts that I feel bad about missing out on. It's miles different from 2021 where there are still actresses left to watch despite me having seen over 40 debuts. Does that mean 2022 is a worse year for debuts than 2021? I think honestly that it is a little bit worse truth be told, but I'll feel more confident in that answer in another year when we look back after two years.
