Panking's Favorite and Least Favorite Outfits in JAV

Wardrobe can be such an integral component of a JAV video. Sometimes it can make or break the experience and everyone has their own preferences for it. Maybe you like a good nurse outfit or an office lady uniform. Or perhaps something more exotic like a gimp mask or catsuit. It's all very subjective and no doubt some of you will disagree with my choices here. Feel free to let me know in the comments what some of your favorite and least favorites are. For my list today I'll be highlight five each of what I think are the best and worst outfits in all of JAV. Without further ado, let's dive on in!

Favorite

Slingkini

This may just be my personal favorite outfit of them all. If there's a slingkini involved, you have my complete attention. It's also sometimes referred to as a sling swimsuit or bikini but it is just easier calling it a slingkini. Why "sling" well because of the Y-shape frame resembling a slingshot. But anyway, I just love them. They are especially effective when worn by an actress with a sizable bust. Slingkini's just ooze sex appeal and give you the satisfaction of seeing the actress nearly nude but leaving just enough to tease you. And I really like how well they frame an actress's figure and just overall the "slutty aura" they seem to radiate. I wish they were a bit more common in JAV but anytime they show up I'm always thrilled.

Reverse bunnysuit

The reverse bunnysuit trend really took the JAV world by storm back in 2022. It really first debuted with the film, JUFE-287, in May of 2021. That was really the first time we saw it in action and after that, it was over. Every studio was jumping on the bandwagon as it quickly became the hottest fad. It's simmered down since then but still sees some use here and there. I think it's pretty clear to see why it became an instant fav favorite. It's a simple concept. Take a traditional bunygirl outfit and well, reverse it. This means everything from their chest down to their thighs is now exposed. It's pretty great making for some insane eyecandy. Even better when they spice it up with a change in color or material beyond the simple black-and-white combo. I am always down for some reverse bunnygirl.

Nurse uniform

A true certified classic of porn apparel. Nurses are one of the biggest staples of not only JAV but porn as a whole. There's a reason it's a tried and trued genre. One major reason comes down to the wardrobe and the nurse uniforms are always a hit. Now they do vary a bit across both mediums. Western porn often goes for a sluttier angle aiming for a wild fantasy while JAV tends to shoot for a more professional and realistic side although there are obviously exceptions. Regardless, I'm a big fan. I love every aspect of it from the stockings and pantyhose to the tight zipper or button-up jacket and even the little hat that serves as the cherry on top that completes it. Nurses will never go out of style and this theme will always remain a popular favorite among many viewers.

School teacher

Here we have yet another bonafide porn classic in the office lady uniform. It's a fan favorite for sure. Some may say it's a tad cliche but I never get tired of it myself. School/teacher themes are one of my all-time favorite themes personally. I mean, who hasn't had a fantasy of banging a hot teacher? There's such an alluring aspect of a female in a very professional setting dressed in a classy manner willing to turn up the heat and give in to her slutty side. And the uniform is a key reason why I love it so much. You have the high-heels, skirt, pantyhose/stockings, and the optional glasses which always serve as a fantastic extra touch helping complete the whole look. And if an actress has nice legs such as Kurea Hasumi or Jessica Kizaki, it doesn't get better than that.

Catsuits

Catsuits have to be my favorite most frustrating wardrobe choice in JAV. I absolutely love it but it's aggravating that it's almost entirely relegated to the secret agent themes with a more "darker" plot. Why can't we see the actress be the dominant one and take command as a top-tier agent? It's so extremely few and far between. But frustration aside, I do still love this outfit. For those unaware it's a one-piece form-fitting garment that is typically made of latex or spandex. What's especially nice is when the actress's tits hang out in the front making for some stellar eyecandy. Sometimes even fully zipped up is still great too as the outfit is usually super formfitting helping to emphasize their bust. And the whole outfit just gives off badass femme fatale vibes. Who doesn't love that?

Least favorite

Gimp masks

My list isn't really in any set order and to be honest, most of these outfits or wardrobe pieces I can tolerate to an extent. But if there's a single article of clothing that is an absolute dealbreaker, it's the gimp mask. I cannot stand them and think they are incredibly dumb. It just ruins the whole film for me. One massive negative is that you can't see the actress's face whatsoever beyond a whole for their mouths. This also means it greatly restricts their acting since it completely nullifies facial expressions. Aside from that, it also just looks creepy and unsettling like something you'd see a creature from a Silent Hill game wear. If I see this on a cover, it's an instant pass.

One piece swimsuits

I can never understand the admiration some have for this outfit. I loathe it personally. I know that it's pretty standard fare for Japanese schoolgirls and whatnot, but it's just so utterly plain. It always ends up covering the actress's assets including her chest, ass, and midriff. There's no thrill or excitement to it whatsoever. Sometimes it can be okay if the actress is busty and maybe her boobs are pushing through it but even then it doesn't do much for me. I'm aware it's been a staple of JAV for quite a while but I really wish we could just retire this outfit. It's just as bad as another school-age counterpart with the whole bloomers look. It's just as bland and uninteresting. No thank you.

Virgin killer sweater

I will never understand how this rose to popularity. I think it's quite easily the most overrated outfit/fad in JAV. Now I'm not 100% sure of the exact origins of it but it did seem to rise up back in the very late 2010's into 2020. For what exact reason I have no idea as it's so completely impractical and outlandish. The name suggests that it specializes in sex appeal but it's so baggy and not form-fitting whatsoever. All it shows off is strictly their back and maybe if you're lucky, a small glimpse of a sideboob peak. The giant collar is goofy too. It just doesn't accentuate any of the actress's assets in any way. It absolutely boggles my mind as to how anyone could think this is sexy. I'm glad this trend has seemed to fade away. It can stay in the past where it belongs.

Wigs

I completely understand that wigs are necessary at times for some JAV films, mainly when it comes to doujinshi adaptations. Those characters tend to come with a wide range of different hairstyles and colors so a wig is needed to properly mold the actress into the titular character. Once in a while, they can look okay but more often than not, they just look silly. Half the time it looks like someone dug a broom out of a closet and makeshift it into a wig. As I said a lot of the time they look out of place, ill-fitting and goofy. I know it's not an outfit per se but it's close enough and is always a key component to the overall wardrobe of a doujinshi adaptation. Again it's not the worst thing ever but I can count the number of times on one hand that a wig has looked good in a JAV film.

Maid

This may be a somewhat spicy take but I really don't care for the whole maid look. I know it's a classic porn staple across both the west and east but man, it just does nothing for me. The black and white color scheme is kinda dull despite the slight variations to the overall outfit each time. I appreciate that they do change it up a bit every time but it's not enough to win me over. Not to mention that the actress will frequently keep the outfit on during the sex portion and it ends up being a hindrance obscuring their body. And I'm also not too interested in the whole maid fantasy theme either. It's never appealed to me honestly. I can probably count on one hand the amount of maid films that I've actually enjoyed.
