What is the Best Era of Idea Pocket?

Today we will be looking into Idea Pocket, the long-running and famously known AV studio to answer the question: What was Idea Pocket’s Best Era? To do so we’ll have to take a stroll on memory lane as we look into their beginnings, breakthroughs, and present day. Then we'll have some fun by matching up their actresses from different eras up against each other. Settle in for some JAV history.
Idea Pocket’s Early Days 1998-2008
Idea Pocket first started out as a sub-label under Attackers as ANGEL which was a lighter-hearted label that focused more on cosplay and costume work in contrast to the more hardcore and plot focused Attackers line. Both of which sat under the large umbrella of the Hokuto Corporation now better known as DMM/FANZA and in 2002 they made into its own studio line separate from the Attackers label. Over the years it turned to a more general style and beyond just the costume play and setting and with sub-labels like First Impression and First Idea Pocket, it built itself into a studio developing its own exclusive talent. Steadily and slowly it built itself up into a studio known for its production values and performances from their cute talent which we still see today.
At the start, IP was not as big into the exclusive game compared to now. They were open to using freelancers and actresses who did work with them under exclusive contracts and mainly did so only in the short term with exclusives lasting only a few years. The 2000s were filled with actresses that only lasted a short time with IP. Some of the notable talents to work with the budding IP era were Raito Auyhara, Karen Uehara, and Sarasa Hara. Sarasa now known as Iroha Natsume is actually still active today and works with Attackers regularly.
Looking at the era in terms of exclusive actresses and it's pretty weak with few of them having any longevity. However, what it lacks for in exclusive talent it makes up for it in it's video variety. Early IP was much more adventurous compared to now with series focusing on bukkakes, interracial sex, group sex, and even a series featuring pornstars from abroad. We also saw a lot of crossovers with talents like Sora Aoi, Yua Aida, and Akiho Yoshizawa coming in to drop the rare title under the IP label. Today IP is more buttoned up with tamer concepts as it's moved onto more girl-next-door types for their talents with Vanilla fare videos.

Idea Pocket’s Golden Era?: 2008 - 2016
It was in the late 2000s to the 2010s was when Idea Pocket started to lean the studio into being more exclusive heavy and away from their freelancer work. From 2008 on they would have talent like Jessica Kizaki, Mayu Nozomi, Kaho Kasumi, Rio aka Tina Yuzuki, and Tsubasa Amami under contract. In the 2010s they would sign on heavy hitters like Minori Hatsune, Aino Kishi, Alice Miyuki, Kaede Fuyutsuki, and more, with actresses like Rola Misaki, Saryu Usui, Haruki Sato, and Mei Matsumoto for short stints.
It’s hard not to call this the Golden Era of Idea Pocket just look at that list of names. Great and popular talent that stayed with the studio for years and years with the best of their line being Kaho, Minori, Rio, Aino, and Jessica. We would also see the start of future IP legend Kana Momonogi in 2015 and Airi Kijima’s first stint with them. Content-wise wise it was a mix of the early days of IP and modern day IP. They still had the occasional freelancer work while retaining some of the older stuff like a bukkake series Love Semen. Some of their content seems harder compared to today and pulled straight out of Attackers.
Key Talent in the 2010s
Jessica Kizaki 08-16
Mayu Nozomi 09-16
Kaho Kasumi transfer 09-16
Rio transfer 09-16
Tsubasa Amami 09-23

Idea Pocket Today: 2016-Present
With their old stars retiring or leaving, IP would see some great and lasting talent emerge from the now top-tier studio. Kana Momonogi was making a name for herself just as Minami Aizawa and Yume Nishimiya were starting out. They would eventually get actresses like Momo Sakura, Nanami Misaki, Mia Masuzaka, Karen Kaede, Anna Kami, Hikari Azusa, and Ema Futaba with transfers from their partner studio Attackers with Tsumugi Akari and the returning Airi Kijima. More familiar faces would return for short stints including Jessica Kizaki and Minori Hatsune and they also netted Tia and Yuria Satomi for short spans in 2016.
While the lineup is strong this has been an era that has been plagued by top talent leaving before their time or with promising rookies being shed haphazardly by the studio. Few of Idea Pocket’s rookies have lasted long in its modern age. From 2018 to 2022 only 5 are still with them and one of them left for a while (Karen Kaede). We’ve seen promising talent leave abruptly like Anna Kami, Mai Kanami, Ema Futaba, and Rin Hachimitsu, and long-time stars like Minami Aizawa and Tsubasa Amami leaving. Today they have Mitsuri Nagahama, Honoka Furukawa, and Saki Sasaki as their rising stars.
If modern-day IP was whole and intact I would take that lineup against IP in their Golden Age. Kana, Momo, Karen, Anna, Hikari, and Yume with Tsumugi and Airi versus Kaho, Minori, Rio, Aino, and Jessica makes for an even match up in my opinion. Maybe even better? They just needed to find some consistency as a roster and be around for longer. Girls like Anna Kami left right in their prime and Karen’s had a start and stop career in recent years. It’s a strong roster and era, just not as long-lasting and stable as the previous.

What’s the Best Era of Idea Pocket?
So time to answer the question; what has been the Best Era of Idea Pocket? Well, I called it the Golden Era so it’s clear where my pick is. Kaho Kasumi, Minori Hatsune, Rio, Aino Kishi, and Jessica Kizaki; were some of my favorite actresses of the 2010s and they were all with IP at around the same time and for a good time. Meanwhile, Modern-day IP has too many actresses with inconsistent stretches with the studio and it’s struggled to maintain its newer talent recently. The best of its talent can hang with the best from the 2010s but the consistency isn’t just there. As for the early era, it’s not even up for consideration against the other two. The winner goes to the 2010’s crew.
Head to Head
Kana Momonogi vs Rio
Now for some more fun with a head-to-head match-up of the two eras. We start with the two biggest stars of their time with Kana vs Rio. The cute idol Kana with her little tits and stellar performance against the sexy darker-skinned Rio with her petite, toned body, and squirting fury. As much as I love Kana and her fun personality Rio takes the cake with her sultry performing and unique looks. There hasn't been anyone quite like the Hafu Rio then or since.

Momo Sakura vs Minori Hatsune
This is a close one but Minori and her fuller figure beat out Momo for me. While Momo’s got a great body no doubt but Minori’s bod is more filled out and the difference shows. As a performer both are good and have moments of greatness; I would give that edge to Momo. For looks, I give it to Momo too but just barely as Prime Minori was a looker. In terms of longevity, it's close as Momo has been so consistent and Minori is still around but nowhere at her peak. Let's see how Momo is in her mid-30s compared to Minori now. For now I'm giving it to Minori with the body.

Karen Kaede vs Kaho Kasumi
Another tough one as Karen might be prettier than Kaho but Kaho’s got the much better body with her slim figure with a flat tummy and abs. Performing-wise the two are great too however I’m giving Kaho the win because she’s had a better career overall than Karen with more variety in her videos.
Tsumugi Akari vs Aino Kishi
An interesting matchup as Tsumugi is an absolute beauty with dazzling porcelain white skin while Aino is a flat out cutie who was a fantastic performer. Body-wise Tsumugi edges her out with a fuller figure while Aino is petite as can be with little curves to speak of in either ass or tits. This is a scratch for me; a tie in the face department with Tsumugi taking the body win and Aino the performing win. I like Aino more but I can’t dent Tsumugi’s goods too. Tie.
Yume Nishimiya vs Jessica Kizaki
Now the clearest winner for me with Jessica Kizaki. Yume is a cutie with good performance but Jessica beats her out easily with her terrific body; a full-figured woman with a great set of legs while an A-plus performer. Yume’s no slouch in either department either but Jessica’s body and body of work is a home run winner and just edges her over the top.
Airi Kijima vs Airi Kijima
Enough said.

Who is the Best Idea Pocket Actress of all Time?
Now for fun who is IP’s best actress of all time; whose jersey/bra are they hanging off the rafters first? The name that first comes to mind is Kana Momonogi one of their longest-serving actresses with 10 years under her belt and is one of the most popular actresses online today. Kana’s a strong contender and my pick.
There’s also Tsubasa Amami who gets forgotten somewhat but she’s been with the studio for the longest time. I’m not all that familiar with her but she never seemed like a big star nor did they push her front and center. However, staying with a studio for almost a decade and a half shows real loyalty and staying power.

Two more names that are contender status are Jessica Kizaki and Rio. Jessica came in just as IP was entering its best years, as a popular and well-respected actress. Then we have Rio aka Tina Yuzuki who started at MAX-A but her best years were with IP. The hafu star was part of a wave of hafu stars that became popular in the late 2000s to middle 2010s alongside the likes of Maria Ozawa, Tia, and Saori Hara.
We also have Minori Hatsune who was a star in her heyday and had two stints with IP. Mayu Nozomi was a long-serving star in the 2010’s. Momo Sakura is the newest name of the bunch that should be considered too. She might be newer than the rest but Momo’s become the latest face of IP, edging out Kana as of late with consistent production.
