(Continue to Second Half)

Spending almost two weeks working on the subtitling and prep-work for this unique PETERS release has given me a lot of time to think over how I would tackle the review itself. A strange way to start one, but hear me out: what we get in REAL NANPA - WOMEN OF SHIZUOKA HELP OUT LOW CONFIDENCE HERBIVOROUS MEN is a tale of multiple movies in one. There's good things, great things, and yes, a few not so good things and all need their time to shine in the next few paragraphs.

Let's begin.

The title: originally we planned to keep the title closer to its original Japanese by calling this REAL NANPA - FINDING EXTRA SENSITIVE WOMEN FOR CRAZY VAN SEX IN SHIZUOKA PREFECTURE. On paper, it works. That's also what happens in this massive 240 minute beast. We do encounter five (!) Japanese women all sporting open hearts, open minds, and later open legs. All indeed are thus sensitive both to needs of the heart and needs of the libido--including their own. But we know what users want and a movie about virgins and herbivorous men trying to find solace simply holds more potential popularity than one about 'car sex with ladies who orgasm a lot'.

The virgin: So the theme here on paper has some similarities to that great SOD movie. The big difference is two-fold: in SOD's series, real virgins (or gosh darn close to it because with few exceptions, I've never seen any of those guys in any other movies and they sure act like they've little to no experience!). In today's PETERS's update, most assuredly not a real virgin or anything close to it. The Achilles' heel is the actor for two reasons: if you've seen enough JAV, it's obvious who this is and he plays the same role in all five scenes. If the plot was a director kind of guy seeing how many chicks his slightly in shape actor friend can bang, that would be OK, but that does not seem to be the case here.

The setup: was this really shot in Shizouka? Or do we only get a few setup shots for something that in reality was filmed closer to home (Tokyo)? Unlike other movies with similar guerrilla amateur themes, the dialog buildup before pixels are needed is pretty sparse. While this double update has a ton of dialog, it's incorporated well into the action. We don't get much about Shizuoka, who these ladies are beside basic stats or hear anything unique about Japan's most famous green tea-producing prefecture. By that previous sentence alone, you probably know more about Shizuoka than you will learn by watching all four hours of this movie.

The sex: reading the above paragraphs may make it seem like I dislike REAL NANPA - WOMEN OF SHIZUOKA HELP OUT LOW CONFIDENCE HERBIVOROUS MEN. The fact is...I actually think it's a pretty good albeit slightly flawed JAV movie. The sex itself in every scene is fantastic. The casting especially of an early career NAO JINGUUJI could not have been better. While all are young, the variety in body types and acting makes up for it with gusto. We really do get women who appear prim-and-proper at first, but turn into unchained sex freaks at opportune times. Our virgin friend in spite of the same guy playing it in every scene also does a pretty good job. Having a few different actors filling in would have been a lot better and every scene does follow a mostly samey format, but for the most part, it works. One issue is every actress wears a dress that is stripped with panties hanging off one leg every time. We also get NAO JINGUUJI but no great angles that show off her lovely rear-side. That it's all really shot in a van can make up for some of the ideal angles, but that and the same actor again and again are the only real minuses in a movie that otherwise mostly puts on a good show.
