Timing and Translation by Patonyan

Allow me to describe to our readers the lovely residual complex called 'Tranquist Heights'. A unique Japanese name that takes English, gives it a little spin, makes it sound fancy, but in reality, the building is as cookie-cutter as they come. Imagine a whole community--dozens!--of similar apartment buildings all in one area that's near the city, but still far enough to settle down. The type of apartments that may not be the same as those big inefficient yet charming homes of one's in-laws, but 'enough' to get by while one's husband slaves away at some near pointless job while wives engage in similar acts perhaps with shorter hours. Ennui sets in fast. The passion of being on one's own, married to the love of one's life, maybe seeing the light at the end of the tunnel in the form of a promotion that always--always!--remains just out of reach. Wives get bored, wives get antsy, arguments begin, and beds remain cold.

While today's quirky update from HOT ENTERTAINMENT in their latest 'quickfire' iteration nowhere near is as depressing as the introduction to this review, it definitely does do a good job of still reflecting how drab the lives of average to low income Japanese wives can be. There just isn't much going on outside the normalcies of life. Beds are indeed cold and via a well-timed interview about a very salient subject, we find out two things these nine have in common: aforementioned dead beds and husbands who are tiny.

Marriage counseling this is not. Survey with a twist this is! MARRIED LIFE INVESTIGATION - IS THE DICK OF YOUR HUSBAND TOO TINY? is not exactly a 'people monitoring' movie (at least not per my definition where both parties need to be 'normies'), but still carries the concept of a true blue amateur placed in a world only JAV can concoct. There are some familiar faces here as if HOT somehow discovered that one apartment complex where multiple JAV stars happen to live. Surely based on reality and sheer luck, it turns out SHIORI TSUKADA among others are married and lonely. Work mixed with love? Or Japanese wives at the end of their ropes will going to do something audacious? After all, it's nakadashi city for each encounter that starts with a survey, leads to audacious flashing of a manhood several sizes outclassing husbands, and concludes with the coitus their dreams can not even contain.

This is a fun release, but not a perfect one. Sure, we get nine scenes and each with full-on intense sex. But each almost is too short, each follows almost the same format (with the same survey giver in the form of a very familiar face), and each is shot in the same room as depressing as most any these wives surely live in. These are minor issues, mind you. The shooting of JAV when you're a smaller studio has never been more difficult and I wonder how a movie featuring such a large cast manages to schedule everything so well. As a plus, the body types are so varied there surely is some body for everyone from thick like Shiori and the final wife to twiggy and everything in between.
