OF of Anri Okita causes OOF for some fans

Published : March 27th, 2021 Written by WoodOfTheRisingSun

It started with delisting, her most recent solo vid was released in May 2016, so delisting in February was a few months ahead of schedule. Sure enough my colleague’s report of her delisting generated a storm of comments. Almost immediately some fans found a bone to pick with her. The super hot idol with a bursty bust who launched her JAV career in 2011 had been operating an OF account for some time. For a basic subscription fee of $12.99 per month, fans are allowed access to quote “the only place you can see my private SEXY movie and pics” unquote. According to the complaint (I feel like I’m playing a court lawyer today), since Anri Okita is actively selling her nude and sexual contents, actively using her JAV name/persona, she is not the same situation as an ex-idol who only made 6 JAV’s when she was young and innocent and had went back to an anonymous life and wish to keep it that way.

So, definitely she is making money doing something not too too far off from JAV, definitely she is not trying to live a clean quiet life. She had a very good career in JAV and AFAIK since retiring she never disassociate herself from her past. Originally the 5-year delisting rule was negotiated to placate several who accused some industry people of wrongdoings, so it’s a hard and fast mechanism that the industry provided to terminate the commercial sales of DVD’s that might have caused some ex-performer distress. But one very important point is that the delisting mechanism is not linked to any wrongdoings. It’s an expanded demand made on behalf of many ex-performers who made no accusation of wrongdoings. So any idol, five years after retirement, can request that her videos be removed from any legitimate sales outlet (DMM/Fanza, Amazon and physical shops). In fact by 2020, delisting became the expected default behavior of all ex-idols, even those who continue a presence online or in some way maintaining a JAV idol persona (for example, Kirara Asuka kept a high profile as JAV idol for a few years after she de facto retired).

About two weeks ago, Mar 11th, reddit received and processed mutliple DMCA takedown requests, and as a result, at least 59 posts were removed. Fans of the anriokita subreddit were understandably annoyed. To be fair, reddit often posts pictures and video that’s scanned or clipped from copyrighted materials. Some person mentioned that Anri Okita explicitly said a few days earlier that she’s sending out someone to strike copyright infringers. So there’s no doubt she is the boss of the DMCA actions. The internet is full of minor copyright infringing nudie and sex clips. Is that right? No. But is it worthwhile for an idol to go around and DMCA-takedown every instance of copyright violation? Often it is not, and so fans have the expectation, a false one, that posting a small amount (say a 5 seconds GIF from her videos, or a few pix out of a photo set) is safe from takedown. Does she believe going after (striking) these minor infringements as a matter of moral principle? Or does she believe that striking Reddit etc is somehow in her best interest? Perhaps encouraging or compelling fans to become paid members of her OF. We don’t know, of course. But if combined with the slightly early delisting, it seems the latter is the correct answer.

A couple days ago, a few fans who are evidently her OF member found another reason to be miffed. She post a PMV (porn music video) that is composed of sexy, nude and sexual pix and short clip of herself. It’s said that the PMV is created by an AI, yes we live in an age that even “creative” contents can be manufactured by AI robots. Anyway the thing that miffed some fans is that the PMV contains clips that is copyrighted, e.g. by JAV studios. So (1) she’s infringing someone else’ copyright, (2) it’s the videos that she delisted and removed them from legal sales channels, (3) even more strange, some clips featured un-mosaiced cocks which seems to be ripped from of fans (illegally) running her videos thru a AI-powered mosaic-obliteration program called JAVPlayer. These full-length demosaiced videos have been released into the JAV pirate scene for a couple years. Most popular idols have become the victims of such activities. So it’s quite a WTF Anri Okita went and obtained some such videos and even have the AI created a PMV out of them. Well enough talk, ZENRA have obtained the PMV and here it is for your enjoyment:

Well what do you think? Actually there isn’t much in the PMV, really it’s neither here nor there. Regarding the triple offense that was raised, I have some opin myself. (1) indeed the copyright of her JAV belong to the respective studios not herself, but as the leading star in her own titles, she does have some moral and perhaps even legal rights to exploit them, at least partially. (2) actually I don't even accept this is a complaint? Yes I understand delisting annoys some fans, but beyond that I don’t see any logical extrapolation that says if she delisted her works, she can’t exploit those same works for fun or profits. (3) Again I think the complaint comes more of cloudy logic than any real “not OK” factor, normally it’s the idols who are unhappy about un-mosaiced leaks and de-mosaiced pirate vids. Consumers never complain about any uncensored contents no matter how it’s created or obtained. The fact that Anri is using DMCA to strike competing contents doesn’t mean she must be committed to uphold the strictest standard of copyright protection in each and every circumstances. So some faceless agents out in the (dark?) net used some illegal means to create and release uncensored content of her, if she decides to exploit such content for her self interest, well all the power to her. The real crime, much worse than the triple offense, is the bad music and bad video. (sorry ZENRA doesn't want have the audio track, I can undertstand the concern. But that means you have to take my word for it: the music sucks!)

A screen cap that leaked out shows that she does have quite a large membership and maybe making an impressive income, over half a million US dollars per year, if you believe the numbers. I’d caution that it is in OF interest to inflate the high income levels in order attract both talents and customers. But if she’s making some good income, and perhaps with encouragement from OF, it’s understandable she actively and aggressively delists and strikes any content that doesn’t generate tangible benefits for her and competes with her OF channel. I, too, would prefer not to compete with a 10-years younger version of myself. I was so firm and perky too.

Within my JAV circles, there are quite a few voices who are quite unhappy about Anri Okita’s actions beginning with the delisting. I myself holds a much more level-headed view of JAV idols. First of all, I don't particularly object to the 5-years delisting rule. It's what the idols want, and it's a very small price for fans to pay if it keeps current and retired performers (and more importantly, any prospective hot girls contemplating to join the industry) happy. In general, any hot woman who takes off her clothes and have sex with multiple men to help me get my rocks off is a saint. Even if she may be highly unprofessional as a JAV idol (yeah I’m talking about Rara Anzai, among others) I can’t get mad at them. Compared to the true scum and villains of our days: lawyers and politicians, big boobs and easy pussies are what the world needs.

Of course fans are entitled to their opinions. Everyone can form his own conclusion of Anri Okita is being hypocritical, unfair, greedy, or just a nasty bitch. (BTW I imagine she’d be proud to wear a baseball cap that reads “Nasty Greedy Bitch”) But has she done anything wrong, immoral or illegal? NO! She has been a little bitchy, a little nasty, striking petty copyright violators. Do I approve of everything she does? Not at all! I am not even currently a fan of hers (I was never a huge fan of her facial features/persona, and now her figure is nowhere as tight as before). But her five year career gave JAV fans some 100-ish titles, some of those can be called all-time classics. She doesn’t owe anything to her fans. I support each fan’s right to his opinion, and I support his right to express it, politely and within limits. However, I also think that no one should spam any public forum or channel with his private grievances. Greed, for lack of a better word, is a virtue, especially for a woman with much massive titties. If she’s too greedy for your taste, fine, quit her channel and spend your money on someone else (and get a girlfriend too). If you are still pissed, you can buy an anatomically accurate reproduction of her love canals and fuck her in the ass. Really I have heard a little bit too much complaining from some folks who are not themselves an “injured party”, as they say in the legal profess-shion.  Enough with the world police!

A colleague asked me how I would feel if my own favorite idols were doing similar things. Well yes I guess I will quit her channel too if the reward no long match the investment, but no matter what, I would never publicly complain of them, nor to hold one ounce of bad feeling towards them. JULIA, you are forever my waifu, and Yuma Asami, too, and Takako Kitahara, Yua Mikami, Sakura Miura, Shoko Takahashi, Maria Ozawa, Shunka Ayami, Matsuri Kiritani...

Man I loved watching her but this whole thing leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I'm moving on to Shion Utsunomiya. She gained some weight and it all went to her tits, that fills my big oppai Japanese needs.

You would think after she got engaged, married and pregnant in one year's time she would want to distance herself from her AV career. Not even a marriage of convience (Don't kid yourself if you think this is anything more then that) is apparently enough for her she didn't hesitate to start an OnlyFans in order to pad her bank account. Creating a PMV with previously delisted work (No matter how long the video is) in order to promote her OnlyFans is not cool and extremely scummy to both her fanbase and studios that made her who she is.

I believe she didn't create the PMV. A fan created the PMV using an AI, and she took the PMV anyways. Either way, I agree it is "scummy". Honestly glad I was never a fan of her. (Oops the cat is out of the bag now). On the bright side, the fact that she's switching around doing random things every few years (stint as a singer, now stint as some sort of oracle) only suggests that she may be fine on money but isn't finding any long term happiness.

I was first introduced to Anri Okita with her famous Gif from PPPD-288 you know the one I don't really have to describe it. I closely followered her career ever since so I was very much aware of what she was doing in and out of AV. Now she respectfully tried persuing other career options long before her retirement which didn't amount to much of anything. I really don't need to address why that is because of course nobody was going to take her seriously given her line of work. For all intents and purposes Anri Okita would be nothing without her AV career and even after retirement her continued use of her stage name for her OnlyFans (Which I'm under the impression she doesn't own) in order to exploit her fanbase for money basically had me sour on her. So I don't necessarily blame you for not thinking highly of her right now because I share in that sentiment. The OnlyFans and utilization of delisted content in order to make money off her AV fame does not paint her in a positive light. I would think she would be self aware of that but from the looks of it I'm not getting that impression which makes her look even worse.

I believe she owns the name or at least has permission to keep using it. Most likely, that is. Names can be trademarked, but whether OF would honor a trademark infringement notice for a Japanese trademark when they're not based in Japan is questionable.

I also agree even as a joke, putting up content you purposely had delisted--even just a few seconds--is very poor form. You either want it gone for good or deal with having the rightsholders profit off their legitimately shot work.

I don't know what your stance is on this but I also wanted to address that Kaho Shibuya post retirement has kind of parlayed her AV fame in order to persue other ventures. Obviously she hasn't gone the marriage of convenience or OnlyFans route (Yet) but I am a little uncomfortable by her reliance on pandering towards the Anime Community. Now I'm not about to pretend to be this big Anime fan (I'm very casual of such things) but what she's doing feels eerily familiar to me. I'm reminded of people like Jessica Nigri and Yaya Han to name a few who have built there name on Anime, Manga, Cosplay etc. What do you think? I'm really curious about what your stance is on what she's currently doing.

To see my stance on Kaho, please see the review of the latest release in our Bullitt studio section. I wrote my thoughts on the matter there.

It's understandable that she wants people to pay for the OF content and not get it for free on reddit. I'm not sure what the "complaint" is from the fans. Seems like they feel like they are entitled to free stuff, and with so much free and pirated content on the internet already, it's easy to get into that mindset. And people are complaining about the delisting? You've had 5 years to get any of these movies. I'm sure you can find tons of them on the secondary market as well. I'm assuming that the actresses don't get residuals from movie sales? If so, seems reasonable to delist everything you can. Or if they wanted to make money, threaten to delist all their movies unless they get a cut from all future sales (or maybe even past sales, depending on their bargaining position).

The issue some (including myself) have is not the delisting per say, but how she continues to push a very NSFW image while still using her JAV stage name and now put up copyrighted content (that she has no rights to) in her paywalled OnlyFans page. I think the 5 year rule should add a stipulation that actresses who request delisting agree not to perform in adult video nor use their adult video stage names anymore or the content can be put back up by the studio.

I do find it a little scummy to immediately release the butchered clips through OnlyFans after the delisting. I was peeved about the delisting because I still had some physical copies I wanted to buy but no longer can. In the end, all of this is just making me continue to seed what videos I have of her's so that others may have a chance to get them. She released some of my favorite pornography and I don't any of it to just disappear.
