Oppaira's 2024 JAV Debut Review Roundup

Hey guys, welcome to another edition of the yearly roundup of debuts. What do you think, was it a good year? We got a few good performers, a few good milfs, some big tits. Once again I posted reviews for a whopping 31 actresses, and honestly I'm usually a little drained by the end of it. I do this to myself though so I can hardly complain. Anyway, I'd say it was a pretty good year, but let's go take a deeper look together. As a quick reminder, you can see all the debuts I watched here.

While I had high hopes for Ayu being on Fitch’s roster I am much less happy about her being a freelancer. I don’t anticipate her getting the best opportunities if I’m being perfectly honest with myself. She’s got an incredible body but the performing is lacking and she strikes me akin to a Shiori Tsukada, who similarly had lots of mediocre releases. Who knows, maybe Madonna will pick her up, but I also suspect if they do that they will drop her pretty fast. The fact that she got let go from Fitch after just three releases indicates to me they didn’t see the success they were hoping nor see much of a future. She is physically quite nice and would fit their persona but considering all the great pickups Fitch has had recently (Monami Takarada, Nanami Matsumoto, Shiori Tsukada, Akari Niimura) I have a feeling they’re happy to let those actresses shine rather than continue on with Ayu who certainly feels like at least one level below them if not more.

If you haven’t seen Miki has been dropped from Madonna’s roster and is on Attackers now. As much as I think Miki has a lot of potential, being at Attackers is not that great. Maybe she can prove me wrong there because she does have the acting skills to make those types of plots work, but I know that I just am not that big on Attackers content. Even in the past when actresses swapped over, like Minori Hatsune, I was not really keen on watching. I think that if she sticks around there long enough there will inevitably be a video I want to watch, or perhaps even better she goes freelance, but right now I’m just a little annoyed by it and not particularly excited. I still view her in my mind as a higher quality actress but the career space is lower.

Being dropped from Madonna is a good way to get off my radar. Mihana is fine but I think fine doesn’t cut it when you’re at lower tier studios. There’s a huge difference between Madonna and Planet Plus and unless you have other standout qualities you just don’t end up making the cut. Even if I exclude actresses I think are retired, there’s still a good 15 actresses higher than her, or conversely half the list. It's usually around half or so of the actresses that I watch again so she's already right around the cusp. Signs don't look good and I would not be surprised if I never watched her again.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Mio is probably retired at this point. Skipping 5 months of releases is not a good sign and I can’t imagine she just pops up randomly. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen actresses disappear but the ones that come back usually are active on social media explaining there’s some industry reason or whatnot. Mio was sort of just a budget Kana Momonogi in my mind and I think how much I've been enjoying Kana over the past little while transferred over somewhat to Mio. Either way, sad to see her go but no love lost.

If ever there was a disappointing career it’s Tsubasa’s. A lot of promise just to disappear three months in. It strikes me as odd because I think she ticked a lot of boxes for both Moodyz and the industry at large. There really aren’t many younger gals like her that are spunky and passionate and she could have really carved out a great niche for herself. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised when a promising debut like her didn’t have social media (usually a terrible sign). Maybe there’s some outside chance she’s switching agencies and getting things set up but you’d probably have expected them to put her on social media by now, or that it wouldn’t take three months (though I’ve seen some rare cases).

My pick for the prettiest actress is Mitsuri Nagahama. I called it out right at the start and she was interestingly also the very first debut I watched. I was excited to watch her all year because she struck me as gorgeous and I am really happy she did not disappoint. She has beautiful, soft eyes that I really enjoy. I didn't feel like she was a girl next door vibe I often gravitate toward because she was a step prettier than that. That is true so much so that I put her on my most recent post of prettiest actresses.

Jun Megami is the runner up for prettiest. It turns out that 8 Man really knows what they’re doing with the early scouting, and waiting a year for her to debut seems to have worked out, or at least I can say she’s not a dud. She’s very pretty even if perhaps a little plastic. She also had those cute, wider ears that I find myself often enjoying as well. Easily one of the prettiest from the year.

Himari unsurprisingly has my favourite tits. They are big as hell, 118 Q cup is something else. While they don’t exactly seem quite as big as Hitomi’s at 113 O cup (despite measuring bigger) they’re still among the absolute biggest in the industry right now. In fact, on paper they are the biggest among all active actresses, though I might debate whether they’re actually bigger than say Nina’s 120P. If you thought those wouldn’t be my favourite you’re lying to yourself.

My runner up for best tits is Yu Tano. Once again you shouldn’t be surprised to see me in love with some giant boobies. Her 110 L cup boobs aren’t the absolute biggest like Himari’s are on paper but they look equally as huge to the naked eye. They’re definitely saggier and have larger areola, not that either are particularly a concern for me knowing I like Iori Yuki. As nice as some of the others from this year are, the simple answer is big tits are big and I am who I am. I’m not necessarily convinced they’re nicer than, say Haru Minato or Momoka Kagura (who both stand at 108K), and I think once you get to these incredibly large sizes it’s just all amazing and differences in size are less impactful than differences in shape. Either way though, they’re great and I’m excited to check them out again.

My favourite ass has to go to Miki Mihama. While it may not have been the biggest it certainly was the roundest and that counts for a lot. It had a fantastic shape that she was able to arch quite nicely, and it just all around looked good on every front and in every position.

Yuika Onosaka has my second favourite ass. It is big and that’s a huge (pun intended) deal. I think there are not enough Idea Pocket actresses who have nice asses so it will stand out even more there. Maybe IP will do a poor job of utilizing it but for now I’m just happy to see someone with a big butt.

Mayuka has the best body of any of the debuts. It’s slim, it’s toned, and it honestly looked really nice the entire film. The thing I found is that it made her boobs stand out as they just seemed a little bit bigger.

Kiho Kanematsu is my runner up pick for best body. There was just something about how it all came together with her toned midsection and nice legs that accentuated the entire package. Kiho strikes me as someone whose body has always been a major focal point to her and I anticipate that being the case going forward as well.

Miki Mihama’s video was my favourite of the bunch. Put simply, it had both good directing and a good performance. The video had an interesting narrative that changed throughout the film, letting Miki perform in a variety of roles, and honestly she blew me away with how good she was in those roles. She could deepthroat and take it rough, she could dominate a guy and do the dominant passionate style that I like so much.

Kanae Yumemi’s video was a very close second. Teacher themes are great and I’m never going to get tired of a teacher coming onto their student in crazy ways (like in the washroom). It simply had a lot of different things all with those more dominant style that was just a treat to watch. She also had a more assertive passionate style that I love and it will almost certainly be among my favourite videos of the year.

Himari struck me as the strongest performer. She is very good at a lot of different things, from how passionate she gets to how upbeat she can be. Her paizuri is great and I really enjoy how much she loves to do different techniques like blowzuri. One thing that really stands out for her is how easily she can bounce back from things. You’ll see her have a powerful orgasm and then even in the middle of it start making out. It felt very reminiscent of Chitose Saegusa, someone I think is one of the best performers. In general her kissing is great, very deep and passionate, and I think it combined with everything else suits her for a broad range of videos. I really can’t say enough great things about her as a performer and she is easily one of the best debut performers I've ever seen, if not outright the best.

Miki Mihama is my runner up for best performer. I will give a nod that Kanae was a close second, but Miki struck me as a little better. I think a lot of that came from the particular film I watched and how it had both dominant and submissive sections in it. Miki could deepthroat and get spanked nicely, but on the flip side there were some nice assertive passionate moments where she would push a guy onto the bed and continue making out with him. Both are things that are lovely and the proof is in the pudding up above.

Himari is easily the most likely to succeed. She won multiple awards from the Moodyz New Year celebration and I wholeheartedly agree with the praise. She plays a strong social media game and knows how to milk her fans. Sure, a lot of actresses are good at fan engagement and look like they want to be here, but few of them feel like they were born to do this. Himari doesn’t seem like she’s trying at all, it just feels so natural and effortless to her. She’s got a lot of physical qualities that stand out but she’s also a really good performer right from the start. The results really do speak for themselves and I don’t doubt this pick for a second.

Niko Kawagoe is my runner up here. I’ve mentioned it in my article but she seems off to a really great start. S1 seems to know what they have in her and so does her agency. Her social media game is great, and while it isn’t the sexy kind like Himari’s, it’s much more akin to that of Kana Momonogi where they’re just a pleasure to follow along with. Especially with her being a food buff from her past life, it brings a more unique spin to her that just warms your heart. While I’m not confident in saying Niko will be the next Saika, I do expect her to have a lengthy career if she’s interested.

Rea Marumo is the most disappointing actress to me. The simple truth is that I way overhyped her in my head due to her social media presence. That sort of presence stood out a lot and made me hope for good things, maybe even if they were a bit unjustified. It didn’t come to fruition, she isn’t a strong enough performer to match her personality, and she just falls a bit too flat for me.

Hibiki Amamiya is the runner up for most disappointing. She has such promising genetics but damn if I wasn’t unimpressed every step of the way. I mean sure, big tits are big tits, but when you’ve got literally half of the list being bustier than her it’s just hard to compete on big tits alone. Her tall and lanky figure didn’t sit right with me and I felt like she only had her tits going for her. That’s not to mention the fact that E-Body is not the studio they once were and I’m not really excited with her having been an exclusive there for a full year.

Kanon Hazuki is the one I am easily least likely to watch. She felt like a bamboozle to me, just nowhere near as good as I expected. She was heavy, her boobs weren’t quite as nice as a result, she had no ass whatsoever, and she wasn’t quite as nice facially. That’s on top of her career being pretty awful. Just like a low effort post she struck me as a low effort actress. Just so little going on there and I honestly cannot believe Oppai even bothered with her.

My runner up for least likely is Risa Kisaragi. Like Kanon she was pretty underwhelming all around, though perhaps not a straight up bamboozle. She is like Kanon in the career department though as her career is trending worse and worse. She's working with GIGA now which means one of two things: her career has hit rock bottom or she's so insanely popular that everyone needs a piece of it, and I'll tell you, it's not the latter.

Himari is the clear winner for most likely to watch again. I’ve seen her three times so far, including in VR, which is a testament to how nice she is, or at least how much I like her. Let’s be real, big tits like hers with someone that can perform is a rare treat and I can only think of one or maybe two actresses at the 100J+ mark that can compete with her performing. It’s slim pickings at the top and I will happily take someone like Himari, even if we have to sacrifice other qualities.

Mitsuri Nagahama is the runner up for most likely to watch again. While I don’t necessarily see her as the second best actress or even the one that will be my second favourite long term, having been around for a full year really adds a lot here. Where another like Yu Tano has just half a year, the extra half a year adds a lot, both in terms of experience and getting quality releases. She is much more in line physically with someone like Meguri or Ai Sayama, who are both all-time favourites of mine. I’ve seen her a second time already and while I might be a little lower on her after that the fact that I have seen her a second time makes her come second.

Niko Kawagoe is my pick for dark horse. While she doesn’t strike me as naturally the most incredible actress she strikes me as the one that I might secretly really like. I get it, she isn’t busty, but there are a number of less endowed actresses I like. She was prettier than I anticipated and she just had a natural spunk to her that served her well. I think if S1 can keep up a string of videos like the one I watched that show off that more passionate side that she can really be someone I come to enjoy. Yes, I did already give her an A rating that is reflective of it, but I think there’s potential for her to be and S rank.

Marina Yakuno is my other dark horse pick. There’s just something about her that seems so genuine that I gravitate toward. I know how I felt after watching her and I know that in the weeks that followed I kept having better and better opinions of her. I find that in non-MILF actresses I prefer ones that have a girl next door sort of vibe, and Marina definitely has that going on. She seems like that girl you grew up with and one day realized she was actually quite pretty and you had feelings for her. I don’t doubt that she is very promising and might even compete with Mitsuri (who was the second best debut). There are a lot of promising videos in upcoming months I can see already and I think there's a good chance I watch her a handful of times next year.

One of the things I've noticed is that there are far fewer missed debuts. That is, fewer debuts that are really good but I somehow didn't watch them. Maybe that's me doing a better job at scouting, which I certainly think is true (not to mention there is evidence for). At the same time though there's still plenty of debuts I watch that are bad, or even just not great. Of 2023's debuts, I've seen less than half of them a second time, and a pretty clear top three is emerging. The A tier actresses have some solid chances and the B tier actresses, maybe if they get lucky, but there's still four S rank actresses.

The other thing about this year is the introduction of my debut previews. As I alluded to, I think it helps me be a little better at scouting actresses. I just really like the idea of putting pen to paper in a more meaningful way throughout the year. I know some people may not like that they have to wait all year to see my opinion on an actress, so the early first impression is good. There are other writers helping out there with their versions but nobody is putting as much effort into them as I do.

I also feel a bit bad not putting Yu Tano in my top three. Yeah, maybe a lot of you see her as just tits but compared to most others she seems to be a bit brighter of a performer and seems a lot more promising. It would not surprise me to see her eclipse Mitsuri, but right now we're seeing the effect that an extra half a year of experience has, particularly when that means double. We do tend to see somewhere between 2-4 actresses become the top tier of debuts, meaning that Yu Tano joining the pair is quite likely and then there's room for a fourth (perhaps Jun Megami or someone else to rise up).

2024 feels like yet another pretty good year. I ultimately will not complain when I get two of the bustiest actresses in the industry or one of the prettiest actresses in a while (perhaps since Rei Kamiki two years ago). There's some great actresses and maybe some hidden gems.
