Onward and Upward

No Kawada means no more holding back. Toru and company have moved on from their dingy but sensible offices for a more high end, classier joint. Clad in all white, Toru has decked out his entire operation. Still determined to broadcast his videos free from the confines of Earth, Toru makes a bold purchase of a satellite dish, bypassing the rich owner he was trying to court. In preparation for his satellite broadcast, Toru prepares his new company: Diamond Visual.

The New Diamond Visual

From the ashes of Sapphire Pictures is Diamond Visual. Flush with cash, new employees, and new actresses. Everyone is growing into their new roles, especially our old employees. Rugby is still a cameraman and Mitamura has take over the editing duties but it is Junko that has grown the most. The former make up artist has taken over the director’s chair and is pretty darn good at it. She even takes Mitamura over and mimes fucking him, to show an actor how to fuck. It is really heart warming to see our old crew grow up and take on newer responsibilities. All except for one.

Old Star

Kaoru’s (and Toru’s) struggles have been hinted upon but are further explored here. For some reason neither have shot a video together for some time. Even though she is popular than ever, Kaoru has grown listless from the lack of shooting adult videos with Toru. We can only guess as to why, difficulty shooting when you are in a relationship? Kaoru has taken a back seat this season so far so it was great to see her back in the limelight.

This episode reminds us of Misato Morita’s fantastic facial expression and body language. Able to show us her inner turmoils while still keeping her true self at arm’s length. The episode ends with Kaoru taking the reins and making Toru to make a new video from her. It will be interesting to see how the relationship between Kaoru and Toru progresses, even as newer actresses enter the picture.

A bloodbath is a coming

The Toshi subplot continues to simmer. His relationship with a working girl continues. Takei the police officer pops in with the Yakuza, warning them of a rival gang. Telling them that bloodshed is imminent if the two groups clash. When Toshi sees his boss getting it on with his new love interest, it seems blood is on the horizon.

We get less sex shenanigans for more drama and spectacle. The groundwork is being laid for future plot lines. But I have to end this review by talking about how gorgeously shot and set this episode is. The settings, costumes, and lighting are phenomenal. We get some really well done and fun shots throughout the episode. One shot follows Toshi straight on until he gets to the Yakuza hideout, where the camera tilts into a wide dutch angle. This show about porn is far better than this show has any right to be.

New Characters: Sweet, simple Komu. He will either end up chewed up and spit out by the business or cause it’s downfall. And Miss Oba, a seemingly no nonsense administrator.
