Top 10 Worst JAV Films of 2023

2023 produced some real bangers for sure but also plenty of duds. These films have landed on my list for a variety of reasons. Maybe it's due to lousy action, terrible production values, a nonsense plot, or even all of the above. I'll be counting down from the least to most offensive all the way to the number one pick. Now without further ado, let's get started.

This was Marina Yuzuki's first film back after taking a few years off so needless to say, there was a bit more hype surrounding it. I was admittedly never a huge fan of hers but still enjoy her work from time to time. Unfortunately, this film did very little to inspire confidence in her return. It casts her as a busty "uber eats" type worker who ends up giving her customers a little extra service. I really enjoyed the setup here and it gives us a decent amount of variety regarding the scene scenarios. A great performance would really be beneficial here but unfortunately, Marina falls quite short of expectations. She really hasn't changed much since her hiatus. She's still just as stiff as before with middling energy and facial expressions. I just get no sense of any real enjoyment or effort put forward. Just kinda going through the motions.

The action if nothing else is decent enough consisting of three sex scenes and a paizuri scene altogether. The actual sex is pretty enjoyable with a nice range of positions but the pacing is a bit too slow at times as some scenes take way too long to get going causing a bloat in the runtime. It's not too egregious but a mild annoyance. Another issue I have is with the camerawork as it features TONS of fish eye lens which normally doesn't bother me but it doesn't look too hot here combined with the overly bright lighting. It doesn't do her body any favors which unfortunately is another issue I personally have. I don't think she looks that great here. The fisheye lens and some wonky angles do NOT compliment her chest whatsoever making for some rather unflattering shots. It's one of the rare occasions where I'll admit the fisheye lens does more harm than good. While it's definitely not the worst video of the year, it's still a disappointment especially since this was her first film back.

This film isn't a typical full-length JAV so it's cheating a bit but it's still lousy all the same. I've been wanting a new good June Lovejoy video for a while now and sadly, the search continues as this one is definitely not it. The premise is pretty barebones as it's just comprised of two scenes taking place inside a hotel room with the only slight theme being teasing and enduring ejaculation. That's it. Not much to go on but that's not always a bad thing as you don't always need a plot to make for a quality JAV experience. But nothing else here lifts the film up and results in an utterly forgettable watch starting with the action. As I mentioned earlier, it's comprised of two scenes overall. Those being a handjob scene and a sex scene.

Right off the bat, that handjob scene is the most nothing scene ever. It's shot from one angle for the entire time and it doesn't even give you a good view of the eventual cumshot. And it's a half-hour long at that! It's awful. The sex scene fares a little better and is mildly enjoyable but still fails to leave much of an impact thanks to the bland production values. None of it is particularly noteworthy. I also have to point out another key issue I have which is the lack of ass attention at all in the sex scene. You get a few glimpses and that's it. June's performance is at least serviceable enough although nothing noteworthy. It's just such a forgettable and empty film. Even if you were a diehard June fan, I'd advise you to look elsewhere.

That's a pretty eyecatching cover, isn't it? A big titty teacher theme sounds right up my alley. I was hopeful upon watching this that it would perhaps spark a First Impressions post for me but that idea was stopped dead in its tracks here. The plot is one I typically enjoy as it casts Rian as a busty teacher who "accidentally" leads men on by going braless while sporting some big tits. I normally do like this setup but there are some really ridiculous scenarios here such as when she slips on a spill while the janitor is mopping the floor and the immediate next cut is both her and him covered in lotion. It's beyond dumb making for one the stupidest setups I've ever seen. Even ignoring that, this film has a wide range of issues starting with the production values.

This film employs a heavy dosage of fisheye lens from start to finish which I don't mind most of the time. But here it's very egregious. Not to mention the camerawork itself is painfully amateurish marred by terrible angles that are either way too damn close or just ill-framed shots in general. It's such a huge distraction. The lighting at least is okay at best but even then has some weaknesses such as one scene being way too dim. Her performance is very lackluster as well as she's incredibly one-note throughout the entire film with middling enthusiasm and facial expressions. The action fares a bit better with three sex scenes which are nice but unfortunately, it's weighed down by laughably bad fake cumshots and the aforementioned awful camerawork. What a complete mess.

Just like my previous entry, this one features a pretty nice cover. But sadly, the film doesn't match up whatsoever. The plot features Monami Takarada as herself with her moving back to the countryside and flirting with various men from around the neighborhood. This of course devolves into a variety of different sex acts. Let me just say right off the bat, this film really reminds me of a "KATU" studio release. Not only is the plot a bit similar but some aspects of the production values are inline as well, especially regarding the setting and camerawork. I guess it's a good time to talk about that as it's one of the major reasons the film lands on my list. For starters, the pacing is incredibly bloated at 2 hours and 45 mins. You'll see why that's a big deal when I get to the action in a bit.

But the camerawork isn't the best either with the most egregious example being the sex scene that's shot exclusively via static cameras for no good reason. It's made even worse by the fact that it's the first sex scene...coming in at the two-hour mark. Yes, there's no actual sex until TWO HOURS in. What were they thinking? And then they ruin it with the static camerawork. Just brilliant. Up until then you just get a handjob, blowjob, and paizuri scene that are all equally forgettable. There's some nice thighfucking in there but that's about it. Her performance is just passable at best and we're treated to some juicy eyecandy at least but that's not enough to salvage this one.

This one hurts quite a bit as I was really looked forward to it initially. A paizuri-centric film with Nagi Hikaru sounds like a surefire recipe on paper but man, the execution is just not there at all. The plot isn't too creative(shocking I know coming from S1) as it's just a generic massage play theme with Nagi treating some lucky customers to a tittyfuck happy ending, with a full course for a few lucky guys. This setup is just painfully bland which isn't normally a huge issue with this theme as I've enjoyed plenty of tittyfuck films with a barebones premise before. However, the major difference lies with the acting and Nagi is extremely subpar. A great performance can carry a minimalistic setup like this but Nagi disappoints big time. Her technique itself isn't too bad at all but her facial expressions are very underwhelming at times and her energy is lacking just the same.

It doesn't feel like she's trying at all in some of these scenes and it makes the whole experience even more of a drag. The action here isn't that noteworthy sadly consisting of three paizuri scenes and two sex scenes. The paizuri scenes in particular are a real disappointment. One features the guy just fucking her tits which is pretty lame and in another, she covers the guy's chest and dick with this powder that just makes everything extremely messy. The sex scenes at least are fine but still nothing too memorable at all. Not even the production values can save this one. Most of it just feels very generic, especially the settings which are uninspired across the board. I will say that the lighting is pretty nice throughout at least and Nagi herself looks superb. The setup is bland, the settings are plain, the paizuri action is lackluster and her performance is just off the mark by a wide margin. Nagi Hikaru had a great year in 2023 but this film does not help that case whatsoever.

I was looking for a good new Misono Mizuhara film and thought that perhaps this could be what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I couldn't have been more wrong. The plot follows a man who is visited by his step-sister whom he hasn't seen in quite some time. She's grown up considerably and catches his eye thanks to her fully-size assets. He starts to give her a back massage before he moves his hands down below and fondles her chest. They then get right to it and begin going at it as you'd expect. Plot wise I have no issues with as Misono fits this role decently well and overall it works well enough. My main problem lies with the incredibly lackluster technical aspects. It's almost as if Lunatics produced this film.

First off there are only two settings throughout the whole video. Making matters much worse is the fact that the lighting is the exact same in every single scene. How can you not at least dim the lighting for an evening scene or something? And maybe if the lighting was at least good it could be excused a little bit but no, it's absolutely terrible. All the scenes are just way too bright and saturated not complimenting her figure whatsoever. The action isn't much better consisting of two sex scenes which are both fine and then two tittyplay/stimulation type scenes that are a complete waste dragging on for too long. I could understand one of these but two is completely unnecessary. All in all this film is a prime example of how shitty production values can kneecap your film. Such a waste.

If I did a top 10 covers of the year post, this film would easily be near the top. I absolutely love this one. Unfortunately, the film doesn't come close to living up to it. This is a doujinshi adaptation of a work titled "Onsei Keishiki de Oshiego to Amaama Ecchi". It's very simple as it centers around a love affair between a teacher and a student. As far as doujinshi plots go, it's one of the more basic ones. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the premise but Hana does fit the schoolgirl role perfectly so for that I enjoyed it. But sadly that's about it. One thing that really annoys me is her wig. Wigs in JAV usually aren't the best and that trend continues here. It looks quite shoddy overall and I don't think short hair really fits her too well. Another aspect of her appearance that drags this film down is her wardrobe.

It's not exactly the film's fault as it's just adapting the source material but she keeps the schoolgirl uniform on throughout the whole film until the last scene where she changes her outfit.

But this uniform is way too obstructive and doesn't show off her assets at all. I will say the last outfit she sports is stunning as it's a makeshift cheerleader-style uniform that complements her perfectly. That last scene is really the only positive here as it's honestly fantastic but it's not enough to salvage the experience. The rest of the action is mediocre at best as we get two sex scenes with extremely limited position variety, a blowjob scene, and a tittyfuck scene all with fake cumshots. Another aspect I wasn't a fan of was the camerawork as it does this weird thing where she looks directly into the camera during non-POV scenes. And topping off the shit sundae is her rather underwhelming performance. I understand she's supposed to be more submissive but even then she's not that impressive at all. Just average at best. While MIMK-128 does do a solid job of adapting the manga, the source material just doesn't translate that well to live action. Just watch the last scene and skip the rest.

Yuria Yoshine and doujinshi adaptations go hand in hand as her body is a hentai figure come to life but this is one that's best left forgotten. It's an adaptation of a work titled "Aneki no Ero Aka Mitsuketara". The plot centers around Yuria playing an office lady who often lets out her frustration against her little bro. But then one day he finds a lewd online account of hers and uses it to make her perform a range of different sex acts on him. It's not exactly a premise that I'm into but just grading it as an adaptation, it's pretty faithful in that regard. Also funny enough this may be the first case ever where the actress has a bigger rack than the character from the manga. Just something amusing I wanted to point out. Now you may be asking what makes this film so bad then? Well by far the biggest issue I have is with the production values.

The setting variety is completely non-existent as every scene takes place in the exact same room on the exact same bed. Oh well maybe they at least change up the lighting? Nope. Every scene is lit the same too making the repetitiveness even more unbearable. To be fair, it's not entirely the film's fault as this is how the manga is set up but I can't overlook it. The action fares a bit better but not by much as it takes nearly an hour before any real sex happens with the leadup being comprised of just a blowjob and paizuri scene. And that sex scene is basically an hour long. There is a brief cut in-between but it all blurs together making for quite a slog. I will say that her submissive performance is solid at least and fits the theme well. But one positive isn't enough to salvage this film. I just honestly think that this manga is one that didn't need an adaptation. The lone setting style doesn't translate well to live action as it makes the whole experience such a bore. Don't bother with this one.

This film is a prime example of cover art bamboozle. It grabs your attention and then utterly destroys any possible hope you have making for what is easily one of the absolute worst films of the year. It's very simple overall as it's just a vanilla sex-focused film with heavy use of close-up shots and some fisheye lens throughout. I personally never mind this type of setup too much unlike some other folks so I was fine with that aspect. You don't always need a plot to make for a quality watch. However, once you dive into the action it turns to absolute garbage really fast. It consists of two sex scenes, a group blowjob scene, an assjob scene, a paizuri scene, and a scene where a group of guys fake cum onto her crotch. This leads me to the biggest issue here which is the fact that maybe 10% of the cumshots are actually real. The rest are all bullshit.

It's even worse when you factor in that the actual sex doesn't occur until an hour and 40 minutes in roughly. It's just laughable. Also, that group blowjob scene utilizes fake cum AND fake plastic see-through dicks. It's so pointless and devoid of any satisfaction whatsoever making for one of the dumbest scenes I've ever come across. That frustration extends to the production values too as Hana looks incredible in some of these scenes but it's all gone to waste thanks to the terrible action. The lighting on one hand is exceptional and highlights her brilliantly but the camerawork often feels amateurish. Hana's performance at least is okay but nothing more than that. In the end, this film is a complete and utter waste of time in every way. There's next to nothing redeemable here except maybe Hana's appearance but you can get that and more in other films. What a joke.

When I began constructing my list, I knew right away that this film was gonna take the top spot. It's so laughably bad and just ruins any potential it had with this great cast. The concept of this is somewhat unique as it's a sex-ed type setup demonstrating various sex techniques involving foreplay and positions. It aims to be informative which I suppose it works in that regard except for the fact that, like me, I'm sure many of you reading this don't speak Japanese so it's all meaningless anyway. This in turn makes all the dialogue and instructions just an absolute bore. There's so much time devoted to charts and drawn models showing how to properly please a woman and it's as engaging as watching paint dry. It's mind-numbingly boring. Making matters worse is that Taku is the main star. I've made it no secret that I cannot stand him so having the entire film revolve around him was excruciating, to say the least. So the premise is a waste and it stars Taku. Maybe the action is good?

Sadly no as it's beyond mediocre and is insultingly bad. There is no actual sex until over an hour in and it's literally just the missionary position. Until then we're treated to an hour of watching Taku suck on some tits and practice oral on the actresses. How thrilling. Then we get a dull group blowjob scene followed by two one-on-one sex scenes starring Alice and Yui. Mizuki's only contribution is a blowjob scene. It's a complete waste. Even better is that nearly the entire film takes place in the exact same room with the exact same lighting. Now there was a part 2 that came out shortly after its release, MIRD-232, that is marginally better. But WHY was this film divided into two parts? It has no business being treated like it's some grand epic JAV and easily could've been one film which would made it a bit more tolerable by cutting out all the fluff. As it stands, this film is just devoid of any satisfaction whatsoever and completely mishandles this terrific cast. A huge swing and a miss.
