Crazy JAV Backstory: retired Mei Miyajima revived by a magical spell

Published : October 17th, 2020 Written by WoodOfTheRisingSun

As crazy backstories go, Mei Miyajima’s 宮島めい was fairly standard.  Her career goal was to become a childcare specialist.  I suppose she was going for the top market segment, so she would first study in Switzerland for some righteous fancy diploma. But even after saving money all her life she is still a bit short.  Not much, she figured, she could make up the budget with the income from two, only two JAV titles.

So Soft On Demand (SOD), being in the business of fulfilling dreams of young ladies, crafted a 100 days career plan for her.  JAV fans loves one-timers (一本限定), or rather, I am not sure they love it, but they buy them up.  One they love fresh newbies, that’s just the male instinct to spread his seeds far and wide.  Two, a one-timer (well in this case a two-timer) means that there will be no second chance to score.  So even an unproven (as far as JAV is concerned) girl can count on a sales boost if she’s promoted as a short-career girl.

So in July Mei Miyajima debuted with the JAV title “AV Debut, Next will be Retired”, and in August her "Total Combustion Retirement Work" was released:

Both titles performed extremely well, with her debut title made no. 3 in monthly DVD sales overall, and no. 1 amongst debut DVDs.  And then as we all know the pandemic hit (actually the pandemic hit well before her debut, but who's counting), which means that her plan to study in Switzerland has been delayed indefinitely.

And of course the sales record is also sitting there, the fans are still asking for more.  So SOD, being in the business of pleasing fans all the time, launched a revival movement.

Turns out a magical spell was already printed on the back cover of STARS-276:

It reads めりめも いあじど いたいつ かやみて いさりて でででよ "merimemo iajido itaitsu kayamite isarite dededeyo" which seems to make no sense at all.  But if you take the first kana of each line "めいいかいで" and the last kana of each line "もどつててよ" you get "Mei ikanaide, modotte kite yo" or "Mei, don't leave, please come back!".  So if enough fans chant the spell, Mei Miyajima will come back to JAV!  And then ... magically she did!  In STARS-294 the title declared "Commitment as JAV actress, I have accepted it, here I am!"

And again SOD and Miss Miyajima are rewarded with excellent sales figure, reaching top positions in daily and weekly sales ranking, and made no. 9 in monthly DVD sales ranking, an excellent mark.  A happy ending (or beginning) for all!  Except it's just a bit too perfect, isn't it?  The retirement video was released on August 18, the cover with the magical spelled designed and finalized at least a month before then.  Not two weeks later she suddenly announced her study plan was derailed.  Just a week after that, the SOD spell chanting campaign.  Then her revival was announced 11 days later, with a revival DVD cover already designed and released.  The revival title was originally scheduled for October 25th, but for unknown reasons, it was dropped early, on October 13, barely five weeks after the spell chanting.  Seems the spell doesn't just bring back a retiree, it helped speeding up the whole production and post-production process!  You see, normally a JAV title takes about 3 months, counting from the day of filming, to be released.

It's a miraculous revival 奇跡の復活!

Thanks for clarifying, I knew this was a gimmick. SOD makes pretty good debut videos, I knew she was gonna be back
