JAV Career Movement: Akari Asagiri, idol of a generation, calls it quits

  Akari Asagiri 朝桐光 announced on her Twitter yesterday she is suspending filming JAV.  Without explicitly saying so in so many words, she made it clear it's effectively her retirement.  

On the 26th, at about 1:36AM she tweeted out an announcement she is suspending AV filming, but she might still accept job offers from V-film or pink film (soft porn).  Then by the morning, perhaps in response to fan reactions, she made a clearer statement.  She has not mentioned the word retirement, and she is not quitting her agency, leaving wiggle room for future possibilities.  The immediate factor is that until now she has been working as hostess at a "club" Kaguya 月乃姫, which only employs active AV idols, but she is switching job to another club which doesn't have the same requirement.  She further lament that JAV sales are down, in turn pushing down idol's income, and young and cute newbies joining the industry and competing, the once unstoppable workaholic Akari now feels quite exhausted after a full day of JAV filming. So she will leave JAV filming for full time hostessing at least for the rest of this year and maybe she will consider her options next year. 

So it's as clear as needed.  She hasn't used the word "retirement" (anyway even formal retirements are reversible easily enough), leaving room for options.  But if the hostessing is working out fine for her, (and since she had been doing hostess for almost as long as she has been in JAV, we have plenty confidence she has the skills and altitude to do well) she will not have any pressure to return to JAV.  Of course (hopefully) if some pink film production or even JAV studio offers her attractive terms she will come back, but for fans it's quite a safe conclusion she has effectively retired. 

Akari Asagiri was born in 1986 according to current official stats (however another source says 1988, and yet another made her birth year 1982, making her almost 38 now, which I think is most believable).  She debuted in 2010 with the nom d'porn Akari Minamino 南野あかり.  However while she had a fairly good figure with a slim build and 105cm F-cup bust, she was not the prettiest girl.  And so in her first 3 JAV titles she was only uncredited co-stars.  Her first credited role was her forth JAV playing second fiddle to JULIA (then still a fresh face) in HMGL-051.  And it will her seventh film when she finally earned a solo, credited, title.
