I have a feeling this will be a very divisive post. Now when I say overrated that doesn't mean they are necessarily terrible actresses. In fact, most of the actresses on my list are fine and I enjoy them to a varying degree. However I personally think the praise and love they receive from their avid fans is maybe a little too much. This is by far the most subjective list I've done yet and I fully realize I'll undoubtedly ruffle some feathers. I'll give a brief overview of the actress before I get into my personal reasons for why I think they're overrated. With all that out of the way let's kick it off with my number 5 choice...

5. Yua Mikami

I know there's some diehard Yua fanboys out there already preparing their pitchforks. I wanna just say before I begin that I actually do like Yua Mikami. I think she's great but not quite the GOAT like some fans may believe. Yua's career is an interesting one for sure as she first started out as a member of the idol group SKE48 in 2009. She left in 2014 before eventually making her move into the adult industry in 2015 debuting with Muteki studio. Her rise to JAV stardom was immediate with massive sales and even winning awards such as "Best New Actress" and "Best Actress" at the 2016 and 2017 DMM awards. She even has her own kpop group in "Honey Popcorn" and her own clothing brand. Her success in undeniable and she deserves praise for her hustle. She remains one of the best sellers in JAV right now and is S1's biggest exclusive actress.

Now as I stated at the beginning I think she's great but not that great. I can't dispute that she has an amazing body. Her figure is stunning and she's in fantastic physical shape. Just look at those thighs. Her tits are solid as well and she's got a nice ass overall. But the two biggest reasons I find her overrated are not due to her physical appearance but for her films themselves and her acting. First off I find her content at S1 to be mostly very vanilla and uninspired. I really feel like she's held back by S1 and would love to her branch out but sadly I doubt that will happen anytime soon. Not to say all her S1 releases are bad but they all feel relatively safe and don't push any boundaries. They are starting to improve lately at least. My other reason is her average at best acting. I'm sorry to say but I don't think she's a great performer. She definitely has her moments and a few good films here and there. But overall I've never been that impressed by her acting. She's still a terrific actress all around but not quite the best of all time like some diehard fans may believe.

4. Kaho Shibuya

Now get me wrong I absolutely consider myself a fan of Kaho Shibuya but I can't help but feel she's a bit overrated overall. Kaho got her start back in 2014 but she didn't immediately make a huge splash. It wasn't until she became a freelance actress that her career really took off. Her bubbly personality and of course large chest played a big role in her rise to fame. She retired in 2018 after just four years in the business. After retiring though she's remained in the spotlight in various ways. She's become very involved in cosplay and attends anime/manga conventions. In addition she's been doing some acting, writing and even streaming on Twitch. She's kept herself quite busy after retirement from JAV.

So why do I think she's overrated? Well for starters I don't think her boobs are that great. Sure they're indeed massive and at times look nice but undeniably they are quite saggy. Now before you come at me with "Well Hitomi has saggy tits too" at least with Hitomi she has a super slender body and thin waist to compliment her massive chest but Kaho really doesn't have that. Also nothing else about her body really stands out or is particularly remarkable. Her ass is average at best, her face is fine and her overall figure isn't that impressive. The other critique I have is her acting. While I do love her bubbly personality I can't help but feel she overacts in some scenes/videos. It's most noticeably in paizuri scenes where she'll sometimes make the most awkward facial expressions I've ever seen. She looks like she's constipated and it can be a real turn off even if her technique is solid. In the end I do still enjoy her but she's nowhere near my top 10.

3. AIKA

AIKA has had a very prolific career in JAV spanning nearly a decade in the business. However I can't help but feel she's a bit overhyped from her core fans. Her career began all the way back in 2011 debuting with Prestige. Soon after she became a regular for studio, Kira ★ Kira, and eventually branched out to other mainstream studios such as MOODYZ and WANZ Factory to name a few. She achieved early fame mainly due to her gyaru styling appearing in many "gal" type films. This particular look features a tanned body, colored contact lenses, fake lashes and nails topped off with blonde hair of variable shades. Since that time she's enjoyed a steady and strong career even resulting in winning the "Excellent Actress" award at the DMM Adult Awards in 2016. All this has led to her becoming of the most consistently popular actresses of the past decade.

Let me first praise one good aspect about AIKA which is her relatively solid acting. She's always a reliable performer and most of the time you can count on her to deliver. But that's where most of my praise ends. The biggest reason I find her overrated is her body. Sure her figure is solid but nothing about it blows me away. Her ass isn't as great as some may think and her boobs are fine but nothing remarkable. And of course there's the numerous surgeries she's had done on her face. I've lost track on how many times she's gotten her face done. She's gone way too overboard and what's especially frustrating is there was absolutely nothing wrong with her face prior to the updates she made. All the fixes she made were pointless, unneeded and just ruined the natural look she once had. Now I don't hate her as I still enjoy her films once in a blue moon but I definitely think she's far overrated.

2. Rara Anzai/Rion/Shion Utsunomiya

I don't think anyone will be too surprised to see her on my list. Probably the least controversial choice here. She made her debut all the way back in 2013 with S1 of course under the name "Shion Utsunomiya". She was active for roughly a year before disappearing into the ether with no closure at all. However a year later she re-debuted under S1 again however this time with a new name as "Rion". She lasted a few years there before once again quietly vanishing with no announcement whatsoever in 2018. 3rd time's the charm apparently and she once again rose from the ashes with a new name as "Rara Anzai" at the end of 2019. As of now she's still going strong and lighting up the sales charts including both DMM and R18. Throughout her whole career she's maintained a steady state of popularity and I think we all know why.

Of course it's obvious why Rara is incredibly popular. Her figure is absolutely stunning, she's very pretty and boasts some of the biggest and best natural tits around. In terms of physical beauty she is stacked. But beyond that her appeal is really only surface level. Her films are all very vanilla and safe. She never ventures out of her comfort zone in any way at all. Without question though the biggest reason she's overrated is her incredibly mediocre acting. She lacks any real enthusiasm whatsoever and displays the same exact facial expressions all the time. She often has no real connection to the film or actor and always seems like she's just "phoning" it in. Now I still really like Rara as she's one of my current favorites but admittedly she doesn't quite deserve all the praise she receives. 

1. Eimi Fukada

Without a doubt the MOST overrated actress in JAV. This wasn't a hard decision at all for me. Now Eimi got her start back in 2017 debuting under a completely different name as "Amami Kokoro". She seemingly didn't make a big splash at the time and faded away. She took some time off to get some work done on herself and enhanced her face and breasts, maybe more who knows. She re-debuted with Premium before releasing her big breakout film, KANE-010. This film really put her on the map and jump started her massive upward trend in popularity. Since then she's been on the top of the DMM and R18 sales charts every month and has worked with a massive range of studios in the industry. She's been pumping out new films at a blistering pace with no slowdown in sight.

Now before I tear into her let me first state one positive I like about Eimi. She is a very good performer from the small sample of films I have seen. She really excels in dominant and slutty type roles. Ultimately though that's all the praise I can give her. The biggest turnoff about Eimi is her godawful boob job. I'd go as far as to say they're easily the worst pair of fake tits I've ever seen in JAV. They're extremely stiff and misshapen. It's like they were bolted on by a lousy back alley surgeon. And I don't inherently despise fake tits, far from it, but they just look terrible. The other big issue I have with her is just the overall plastic look she has from top to bottom. She looks like a doll and it's extremely off-putting to me. All in all I find the hype for her to be massively overblown and undeserving. I'm just tired of seeing her pop up everywhere and when it's all said and done I don't think she'll be remembered as one of the greats.
