Back in March, major JAV studio SOD launched a public campaign looking for a big time name to enter JAV. Promising big money and a big time budget, SOD made it look like they were trying to court celebrities to enter JAV. Later they would announce a big signing, a “once in a hundred years” girl had signed with them. Of course this was only for show. A PR stunt meant to hype up the studio’s next darling. Well it worked, everyone’s talking about her and today their darling’s video is out now and we can see if she was worth the hype.

The Talent: MINAMO

Some background on Minamo (or MINAMO as her name is stylized). She was a Gravure idol working under the name Shizuku Taiyo (太陽しずく). First gracing the covers of the magazine Y*ung Animal in 2019. Gravure idols making the jump into JAV isn’t exactly super rare. The last time it happening with any real buzz was when Shoko Takahashi made the jump and even then she had a solid following prior to it. Shizuku Taiyo was a relative small name in Gravure.

What can we first say about Minamo other than wow. She is, in this viewer’s opinion, drop dead gorgeous. Cute, sexy, and beautiful all at once. A youthful fresh face, amazing eyebrows, big round eyes, and a stylish short haircut. Short hair lovers take note. Her beautiful looks are definitely her biggest asset. As for the rest of her body, Minamo stands small at 5’0” with above average E cup tits. Her boobs looked a little too stiff and firm, though she does have a nice round ass. Firm and tight, her heart shaped bum is her second best physical asset. A tiny girl with a nice ass and a killer face.

The Video

The video is a standard debut title with higher than usual production values and a much slower pace. It starts with not one but two long interviews with some glamour posing and teasing. SOD really brings out their A game in the special effects and setting.  All in all we get only two sex scenes and one dildo licking segment. The video really tries to slow the video down and sell you on her glamour and style. Side note: the mosaics are pretty small and thin at times, especially the when she first pops off her panties. Perhaps the studio really wanted to sell her by using some of the thinnest censors this viewer has seen in a while. During sex the censors returned to normal but less/smaller mosaics is always a good thing.

As for the sex and her performance, we get to the disappointing part of this review. She is just fine. Stiff like most newbies, whiny, and passive. Nothing great or unique about her in the sack. I’ve reviewed a couple of new debuts this year and most of them were better performers in bed. Certainly more interesting. She is much better when the action slows down and she gets a chance to be more assertive. Like her blowjobs and dildo sucking, were pretty hot. But as a whole she was just okay. Maybe we can blame debut titles in general for being bland and putting actresses in passive roles.

Overall

In closing this is a glass half full situation. Yeah, she’s not a fantastic performer nor is this a ‘must get’ title but her looks are something else.  While this title and Minamo might not live up to the hype, maybe she can in the future. Shoko Takahashi and Yua Mikami, were two ‘celebrity’ debuts that were not great at the start but have both gotten much better. For now I would give Minamo and this title a 7/10. Decent body, okay performing, and amazing looks. Even if the video’s a little lack luster, her photos are not. Here are some more sweet eye candy of Minamo.
