What is Happening at Idea Pocket?
“What is happening at Idea Pocket?” is a question has been brewing around JAV fans when talking about the famous studio. A studio that many would name next to famous makers such as S1 No 1, Madonna, Soft on Demand, Moodyz, Prestige, and so on. They have been around for over 20 years but things are not looking so good for them lately. Recent news and developments has made fans worry about the future of the blue AV maker.
Idea Pocket
Starting in 2002 as an offshoot of Attackers as the “Angels” label that focused on cosplay titles. They became a whole new studio that was meant to be both a softer studio alternative to Attackers and their hardcore leanings. In the past they have featured well-known talents such as Minori Hatsune, Aino Kishi, Jessica Kizaki, Tina Yuzuki aka Rio, Sarasa Hara aka Iroha Natsume, and more. Today Idea Pocket is seen as one of the better known studios with high production values, great performances, and idol quality talent. Talent that trends towards cuter faces with more modest bodies. Girls like Kana Momonogi, Momo Sakura, and Minami Aizawa are exactly the type they have gravitated towards in recent memory.

Big Name Loses
IP has taken some big loses in 2023. The biggest one has been Minami Aizawa who suddenly announced her retirement in June of 2023. A seven year actress who had become one of the faces in IP alongside Kana and Momo. After that IP fans got a more bad news when Anna Kami announced her own surprise retirement. A three year actress who was looking like she could become one of the faces of IP in the future. Not only that they lost Ema Futaba, a solid 3 year actress in their roster and Tsubasa Amami who was their longest serving actress with nearly 15 years at the studio.

And before all that they lost Karen Kaede aka Lemon Tanaka to Faleno. Karen was a rising star at the studio and was poised to become a star with them alongside their Big 3. When Karen announced her return to porn with Faleno, IP released a big compilation with her older works. That title shot way up the FANZA sales charts which just demonstrates the talent that they lost. It also made them release even more compilations with Karen.
Cut, Cut, Cut Promising Talent
Not only are the big names leaving but they have been making some head scratching cuts to their roster. Cutting or losing out on promising talent that they first scouted and debuted. Losing girls like Rio Kugiyama to Madonna or Rin Hachimitsu to Faleno. Letting girls like Ruisa Totsuki and Miu Shiromine go freelance. Or having talent like Mai Kanami go completely MIA. All quality girls who are no longer with their debut studio. So they are losing talent at the top end and making cuts to the roster at the middle side too. You can’t develop long term talent if you don’t give them a chance to succeed.
The Future is Bleak
Now looking at who they have been developing their new rookies and it doesn’t look rosy. They have retained no talent from 2019, only 2 from 2020 with one being a transfer from Attackers, none from 2021, and only 2 from 2022. To top things off they have cut back from the number of debuts they have put out. Not having recovered since 2020 and the pandemic hit with their debut output being about half what it was before. It’s clear they are cutting back and tightening the purse strings. As a result their mid-level ranks are paper thin and their new talent prospects don’t look good seeing how they have been faring lately. It’s a studio that is clinging onto its few remaining big names.

Management Problems Behind the Scenes?
Kana Momonogi had recently undergone a large weight loss to a seemingly unhealthy degree. One that took many aback with her looking more and more rail thin in recent years. Even to the point of her having to publicly reassure fans that she was doing fine and would be taking steps to put on more weight. The same case was for Karen Kaede before her sudden departure and hiatus from the studio. She has since talked about putting on more weight recently and feeling much more healthy while with Faleno. Perhaps a dig at the old management mandate of her needing to cut back on the scale.
The End of Idea Pocket
What could be the reason for all of this? Are they cutting back and working leaner because so many factors from the pandemic, management clashes, the new AV laws making work harder, or just the general economic downturn that is affecting everyone right now. It’s probably a combination of all of these. This could be just be bump in the road for a long time studio that’s been around for over two decades now. However it’s clear the studio is on rock waters and like many in porn and everywhere else on the downturn. So this the end of Idea Pocket? I don’t think so and I certainly hope not. It’s a studio that puts on high quality smut while featuring beautiful looking talent that also performs very well. Here’s hoping these tough times pass; for IP and everyone.

I think she has never looked better. Her face has some regained some shape after gaining a few healthy pounds coupled with plenty of time on the treadmill. She seems more fit to me based on the preview images from her new work. PSA: DMM is also running an extended sale on all her IP videos.
It's a shame because IdeaPocket can create movie with interesting story compared to other boring studios.
At least Tsubasa-chan moved into a studio with a similar style.
